Loot Crate Review: May 2015

Click below to see if Loot Crate delivers the goods with May 2015's Unite-themed box.

Review by Matt Cummings

After a series of very good Loot Crate boxes including March and April, May 2015's submission does more than its best to UNITE them with its awesomeness. The result is yet another great cornucopia of goodness for a very affordable price of $20. The monthly geek subscription box service is among dozens of entries vying for your hard-earned dollars, with Loot promising a nice return on that monthly subscription. Its hand-picked, cool geeky collection wrapped around a theme faces a lot of competition, but let's see why I think May undeniably delivers the goods.
Loot's nondescript sex toy packaging makes my elderly neighbors nervous.

A quick scissoring of the tape underneath and it's clear May is going to rock. Is that Green Ranger?!

Upon cracking the case, we find The Power Rangers representing in a terrific t-shirt. This is consistently the best part of Loot Crate, with not one of them disappointing since I began in February. Once again, this one alone was probably worth the value of the entire box, considering if Hot Topic sold it.

And then there's this, one of the coolest, geekiest things I've seen from Loot. These ice molds make every drink a memorable superhero experience. Simply cool.

Something that my wife will love, this puzzle set featuring Rick and Morty. She's already putting it together.

Apparently, Loot is now adding alternate versions of its gear into the boxes; this month features a set of Marvel shoe laces that comes in either color or gray. Can't wait to add these to my Chucks!

We have two sets within May's box: the first are the monthly Loot pin and these Team Fortress foursome. I'll probably foist these off on someone, but they're well made and will look good with someone's flair set at your local kitschy restaurant (yes, I did just throw out an Office Space quote...I'm good like that).
A really great addition is this car decal featuring The Avengers. Loot must have known I had just recently bought a new car and was looking for something cool to put in my rear window? Come on, it's possible...there's someone parked across the street right now with a giant mic pointing towards my house? I wonder if I should approach them with cookies...
The final set within the Crate - a series of three magazines featuring a 'Unite the Stupid' mad Magazine, a an exclusive comic book from Bravest Warriors, and Loot Crate Magazine #22 - cap off a nice collection with plenty of fun and educational reading. Check out the article of the best comic book superhero teams ever. It's pretty spot on, although I'd have to add Dan Abnett Guardians of the Galaxy run from 2008. And as always, we get to see what's in the Mega Crate, which goes to one lucky subscriber. Some lucky subscriber is taking home a nice - albeit bland - unite-themed prize.

In the end, May April 2015's Loot Crate gathers the heroes to do battle, thrashing the competition with the screams of their victims. In terms of quality, it's only a small drop from April's epic collection, all of which I've kept, which is saying a lot. I will probably sell/give away some of May's items, but that doesn't mean it's due to poor construction. It's clear that Loot has listened to subscribers by continuing effort to make their boxes memorable and therefore highly sought. With some boxes fading after only a few months, it's clear that Loot has its stuff together.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim
