I think the internet has definitely become a great platform for smaller budget films. Everyone tends to watch all sorts of entertainment platforms on all sorts of devices, so it’s really leveled the playing field for independent films. What do you think audiences will take away from the movie? I hope the audiences coming

Exclusive Interview With Director TJ Scott . We Talk #DeathValley & So Much More

By: John Meneghetti I had the chance to talk to director  TJ Scott about his upcoming film Death Valley and what Superhero film he would like to direct. Can you tell me about the film and how you got involved? Writer Brad MacPherson and I had wanted to collaborate on a script together for about a year when he brought me a storyline he was conjuring up that I really liked because thematically it delved into ‘how you never really know anyone until you are in a crisis with them’ - and how every person has 'the Mask they want you to see - and the Mask they hide'. We took his storyline and sculpted it into a movie that could shoot in Death Valley - because it is my favorite place on earth - but it is very difficult to shoot there as it is a National Park, with many restrictions. Shortly after finishing the script our Producer friend Taylor Williams mentioned he was looking for a cool little Indy Script to help finance - he liked our script - and we were off and r

Exclusive Interview With Victoria Pratt. We Talk #DeathValley & More

I had the pleasure of talking to Victoria Pratt about her upcoming film Death Valley . She sat down and talked about everything from the film to what it's like working with TJ Scott and so much more. Four strangers on a drunken wedding dash from LA to Vegas hit a mysterious woman in the desert and must overcome injuries, the elements, and ultimately each other to survive. Who do I play and what makes her tick? I play Jamie Dillon. She’s that mid-west girl who grew up in a religious household, and just kind of marinated in the holier-than-thoughness of it. She thinks she’s the smartest one in the room, which may or may not be true. I think there’s a part of her that thought she could ‘save’ her husband, Roy from his bad-boy ways, but at the heart of it, Jamie is a woman who was paralyzed with boredom in her tidy little life, and desperately wanted a release. Hey Lulu! …. Er, Rachel. In all honesty, have you been getting that at all? I do hope people can separate the two? -Haha. Yes, I have been getting that, but more from my friends, family and people online. Read the entire interview after the Jump... How much is that show to work on though? It looks like a dream gig! -It’s a super laid-back production. The crew and cast are a bunch of goofballs but we are also a smaller group, so I feel strongly about what we all bring to the table. Do you get along with the co-stars? No on-set kerfuffles? -We do get along really well. All three of us will crack jokes about each other all day long, which is perfect. Is an audience discovering it? They are! We have a fairly large online presence, and we’ve had some great reviews fr

Is an American Rescue Squad any match for an Avengers? The members of the American Rescue Squad don't actually have any superpowers. Their advantages are in logic and deductive reasoning, so to be honest, the avengers would probably win in a fight. Although as fast and st

Exclusive Interview Director ROB HILL #REPLANIT

Filmmaker Rob Hill , known for his acclaimed doco The Fort Fisher Hermit , has moved ontosomething different… you might say more ambitious. RePlan It , as a series that sees CNN hero Jock  Brandis and his team visiting underprivileged villages and communities around the world and helping supply them with machinery and contraptions that produce such vitals as water and a peanut sheller. We spoke to Rob about how the public can help with this project. Has it been a challenge getting this project up, Rob? It has been a tremendous challenge. Replan It began as a feature documentary about Jock Brandis and his groundbreaking work in appropriate technology. Jock invented a manual operated peanut sheller in 2002 for people in developing countries where they spend an enormous amount of time shelling nuts by hand to deliver them to market. I knew Jock from his work in the film industry, in 2006 Jock walk  so I asked him if I could do documentary about him and his work. He agreed, and

We had the pleasure to talk to Kristina Anapau again, and this time it's all about her new film Altergeist . True Blood alum Kristina Anapau returns to the realm of supernatural spookey with Altergeist , a goosebump-spurring new chiller filmed at a real haunted winery. Having just come off “True Blood”, were you hungry to do something else in that supernatural/horror realm again? I do enjoy the genre. With Altergeist, it was the script that really drew me to the project. Who do you play? What makes her tick? I play Theresa Augland, a director/producer who, four months pregnant, takes her team of filmmakers up to a haunted winery in Northern California to see what they can capture on film. Theresa is driven by the need to prove that ghosts really do exist— she soon discovers that it is not the ghosts who are a threat, but what the ghosts are afraid of— and that is what has her fighting for her and her unborn child’s life. Read the entire interview after the Jump... Hillbilly Horror Show hits DVD this month. Has this been a long time coming for you? When was the series shot? Currently, we just wrapped up filming volume four, so once we get volume one on shelves, we’ll be releasing each volume in the upcoming months. It’s still surreal to think that I’ll be on DVD stands in a matter of weeks. Do you find it easy to watch yourself on screen? I’m not going to lie. I almost always laugh at myself when I see myself on screen. Even if

Exclusive Interview With Tracey Birdsall. She Talks Independent Films & So Much More

Interview By: Beevers Tracey Birdsall just won the prestigious 2014 Maverick Award from the 10th Annual Action On Film International Film Festival. The star of Dawn of the Crescent Moon talks to us while basking in the afterglow of a major indie acting award. How would you say the independent film world and the large studio film differs? Independent film is all about creating without the confines of larger studio budgets and massive amounts of people providing input. There’s a wide array of independent film from somewhat missable to over-the-top amazing. Studio films are usually well-thought-out markets with large budgets following a proven formula with top talent. That said, although the studio films are oftentimes better produced and exciting to watch, the independent film can be surprisingly superior in it’s raw story-telling form and undiscovered or well-known talent. Many actors who previously would only do big budget studio pictures have ventured into the indie mark

Exclusive Interview With Jean Brassard From #FaultInOurStars

We had the chance to interview Jean Brassard from the film Fault in our Stars . We talk sad films, realistic romance and Dom Perignon with Fault in Our Stars actor Jean Brassard. What’s the saddest film you’ve ever seen? Now there’s a big question to start with! I’d have to say in the last few decades, Brokeback Mountain and Sophie’s Choice. But also, another great adaptation is the movie Waterland, adapted from Graham Swift’s novel. Haunting and heartbreaking. Some describe this film as not so much a sad movie as one of hope. Would you agree? I think it’s a movie about inner strength and connection between people. About being able to deal with the present no matter what the present how hard it can be. That is true of all the characters in the movie to me, allowing oneself to experience the gamut of emotions that it sometimes mean. And to share with the ones you love. And it has a great dose of defiance as well. That’s what dreamers do, don’t they, defy? So I guess th

Exclusive Interview With Maria Del Mar, She Talks @DevilsMileMovie

A recognizable face across TV and film, Maria Del Mar’s resume boasts the likes of RoboCop : Prime Directives, The Skulls III, 24 and Hannibal . The actress talks to us about her latest project, the upcoming Devil’s Mile , out August 12. You’ve worked with [director] Joe O’Brien before. Is that how this came about? Yes. I have worked with Joe before but this came about in a strange way. I actually posted on FB that I wanted to do something different (professionally, as I have mostly played more traditional roles. Joe saw my post and contacted me. This has started a wonderful exploration creatively for me. I have really been enjoying playing off beat characters as of late. Characters that are not that straight forward and somewhat marginal. Is it easier working with a director you’ve collaborated with previously? Joe was the writer of the previous production we worked on together so this most definitely a departure from that. Not to mention there is nothing truly ty

Exclusive Interview With Dan Fogler By: Sue

Exclusive Interview With Dan Fogler By: Sue Dan Fogler has just kicked off his west coast tour to promote his new film Don Peyote and he took time out of his busy schedule for a little interview. You’re doing this big tour to promote Don Peyote, across California. Yeah, we’re leaving on the west coast bus tour tomorrow. And we’re going up and down the coast and spreading the word, doing Q and A’s and then we’re going to Big Sur and we end up at Lightning in A Bottle festival and, yeah it should be Rock n’ Roll fun. It should be Rock N’ Roll fun, at least. There are so many different ways to interpret the movie Don Peyote, how would you describe the movie? Okay, I would say it’s a little bit early Woody Allen mixed in with a little bit of Cary Gillian and then you have a lot of Saturday Night/Reno 911 aspect to it. There’s a lot, there’s just a lot. But at its core I think it’s a transformation story. It’s a modern prophet journey. Like, how does a guy with the end is near s

Manny Hernandez Interview. Isn't A Known Commodity Yet. Give It Time

Manny Hernandez , despite appearing in a string of films and TV shows include Joey and the Paris Hilton 'comedy' Bottom's Up , isn't a known commodity yet. Give it time. We speak to the star of the upcoming Pure Love about his journey to the top. Where do you think the readers might recognize you from? In all honesty I don’t think anyone recognizes me yet, ha! Hopefully in the next couple of years that’ll change but at least people always tell me I look like someone. You've done a variety of work in TV and Film. Do you prefer one medium over the other? Both have their fulfilling aspects for me. Television is on a tighter schedule so you have less time to experiment or create a deeper character. You’re able to see your work in a quicker turnaround and it makes it feel like you have something to show for your time. Myself, I enjoy film over television because it’s more of a collaborative process. Unless you’re a regular on a television series then you
