BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

James Cameron Announces Avatar 2 Delayed

Read on to learn how far the sequels have been pushed back. Story by David Clark It was announced today that the follow-up film to the wildly successful Avatar has been pushed out of 2016 and into 2017. James Cameron has big plans for the future of the Avatar franchise which was apparent when it was learned that Avatar would have not 1, but 3 sequels. The 3 upcoming films have still not received their finished titles. They are still known as Avatar 2 , Avatar 3 , and Avatar 4 . Cameron’s plan has always been to write and film all three movies at the same time and then release one film per year. However, due to the delay the first film will not appear until 2017. Currently assisting Cameron with the writing of the individual movies are a couple of well known names. Working on Avatar 2 are Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Shocking Cost To Make The Hobbit Trilogy

We're now two months away from the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies , the final film in The Hobbit trilogy and, very likely, the final Middle-earth movie (the Tolkien estate still owns the film rights to Middle-earth books like The Silmarillion , and they're not too happy with Hollywood these days) from Peter Jackson , who earned international acclaim, millions of dollars and 17 Oscars (including a record-tying 11 for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ) for his Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Though they've certainly made plenty of money -- the first two films have earned just shy of two billion dollars at the box office -- Jackson's Hobbit films have faced pleny of criticism, particularly for the decision to stretch what was originally a two-film adaptation into a three-film one. The story certainly feels stretched out to a lot of viewers, but it's hard to argue with box-office results. Warner Bros. anticipated making plenty of c

The Battle Of The Five Armies Banner

With the final chapter in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, The Battle Of The Five Armies , steadily marching towards our cinemas, Warner Bros. has launched a hefty new piece of tapestry art showing some of the various conflicts and forces featured in the film. Take a look courtesy of Digital Spy… For those who may not have read the book, beware spoilers from this point on. The Battle Of The Five Armies, of course, sees Goblins and Wargs (one army, supported by nasty bats) face off against dwarves, elves, men and giant eagles (four much smaller armies) in a quest to gain control of Erebor (the Lonely Mountain) and Smaug's treasures within. In the book, Bilbo spends much of the conflict unconscious; we wonder whether that will still be the case onscreen? One change this time should see the Orcs being led by the still-very-much loose Necromancer (Benedict Cumberbatch), making them even more formidable. From the looks of this, the wizards definitely get involved this time, and

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Review. Rewarding Follow-Up To Middle Earth's Growing Adventure.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Review By: MattInRC TWIITER: #DesolationofSmaug is an action-packed and rewarding follow-up to Middle Earth's growing adventure. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is a more vigorous and livelier affair than its predecessor. Thank Middle Earth for that! As a fan of good movies rather than a loyal fan to a particular franchise, my disappointment with the hugely-successful but critically marred The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey knew few bounds - our heroes felt less than those presented in the epic and totally satisfying Lord of the Rings trilogy , and the story itself felt like trudging through a rain storm. Luckily, one cannot say the same for its sequel: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is a wild, gregarious, and often pretty picture that should satisfy purists and casual fans alike. From the moment Director Peter Jackson makes a very Hitchcockian appearance in the opening scene, we get the feeling that this one will be

The Desolation Of Smaug New Featurette

Of all the many promotional partners lined up to market the second Hobbit film, The Desolation Of Smaug , US restaurant chain Denny’s always seemed like a weird one. Still, it promises wide exposure and in addition to Hobbit-themed menus (honest), it has also been handed some exclusive featurette footage. So here’s a piece about Beorn’s home. Beorn, for those who have recently been clubbed by a dwarf and may be unaware, is a “skinchanger”, a shape shifter who interacts with Gandalf and co on their quest in the film. Played by Mikael Persbrandt. Given that he is, as Ian McKellen describes him, "A man who is sometimes a bear, and a bear who is sometimes a man,” he naturally needs an unusually large dwelling. Which means some creative filmmaking as usual from the production team. In the featurette, Peter Jackson and some of his cast and crew talk about the experience of shooting in it, and there’s even a little behind-the-scenes footage, including Martin Freeman giving one of

The Hobbit Trilogy Has Cost $561 Million So Far

That figure includes the major 266 days of filming with actors, although it doesn't include an additional two months or so of "pick-up" shoots. Making the movie trilogy The Hobbit has cost more than half a billion dollars so far, double the amount spent on the three movies in the The Lord of the Rings series. That figure includes the major 266 days of filming with actors that was completed last year, although it doesn't include an additional two months or so of "pick-up" shoots done this year. There will likely also be additional postproduction costs as the next two movies are completed. The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Trailer & New Images- Through March 31, production had cost 676 million New Zealand dollars, or $561 million at current exchange rates, according to financial documents filed Friday in New Zealand, where the movies are being made. Distributor Warner Bros. and director Peter Jackson may consider it money well spent. To dat

New Trailer For The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug

Smaug is here, and he's not best pleased. He's also not in the best possible light, with his particular brand of hot halitosis covering his modesty, but to make up for it, at least you can hear Benedict Cumberbatch's best wyrm tongue in the new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug . Top tip: get your headphones on and crank up the volume. It's a well cut trailer with some great "Leggy moments" as Orlando Bloom calls them, as well as a gas refinery's worth of explosions and tonnes and tonnes of golden coin. Luke Evans' Bard The Bowman also gets his chance to shine - though perhaps not as brightly as the aforementioned gold - and there's even time for a few comic beats in there too, thanks to good ol' Bilbo and Gandalf. Still no Stephen Fry as the grotesque master of Laketown, and no Beorn to boot, but that's all well and good - they can't go about revealing everything so early on (though a smidge more Smaug would be ni

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Trailer & New Images

Today is the day and now is the time. The trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is here. Following on from where we left Bilbo ( Martin Freeman ), the dwarves and Ian McKellen’s Gandalf continue their journey to the Lonely Mountain, where Thorin ( Richard Armitage ) and the rest seek to reclaim their homeland from a troublesome squatting occupant: Smaug the dragon. The focus here is more on the new faces we can expect in the second film, including Lee Pace’s Elvenking Thranduil, Evangeline Lily as elf warrior Tauriel, Mikael Persbrandt as shape-changer Beorn, Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman and, just because he can do it without needing big makeup changes, Orlando Bloom’s athletic Legolas. With plenty of action on show, some nice looks at the new folk and a solid, dramatic reveal (well, after the glimpses in the first film) of Smaug’s reptilian mug (no Cumberchat- yet), this definitely has us ready to see more.
