BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Paul Thomas Anderson Invites You To Join Him On An #INHERENTVICE "Hazy" Adventure

DIRECTOR PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON INVITES YOU TO JOIN HIM ON AN INHERENT VICE " HAZY " ADVENTURE In Thomas Pynchon's novel, INHERENT VICE , private eye Doc Sportello "comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the LA fog." In keeping with the spirit of the novel, Paul Thomas Anderson is inviting 25 lucky winners to join him on a "hazy" party bus adventure on Friday evening, January 9th. The bus will depart from a secret location in downtown Denver and meander to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for a screening of his new film adaptation of Pynchon's revered novel. Show us that you are worthy to join the bus by posting an INHERENT VICE themed photo of yourself to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with #InherentHaze (be sure to also tag @drafthouse on Instagram, @alamodenver on Twitter, and /AlamoDrafthouse on Facebook ) and get your friends to like and share. Five Secerts From The Set Of Boogie Nights

With this weekend’s (limited) release of Inherent Vice , director Paul Thomas Anderson will deliver his second movie set in the 1970s. The first, of course, was Boogie Nights , the sprawling tale of the rise and fall of a porn superstar named Dirk Diggler . The film was hardly a box-office success, but it has become a cult hit over the 17 years since its release. Anderson has developed a reputation as a modern auteur, while Mark Wahlberg , the young rapper–turned–underwear model who played the preternaturally endowed Diggler, has become preternaturally successful Hollywood superstar. As part of its weeklong celebration of Anderson’s entire catalog, Grantland has published a very (ahem) long oral history of Boogie Nights , chock full of scintillating tidbits and juicy nuggets. Here are a few (mostly) safe-for-work highlights: "We offered it to Harvey Keitel," Sheaks said. "He could not understand why." Ultimately, Burt Reynolds got the part, but he wa

December 2014 Movies on Our Radar

The final push in 2014 for Oscars nominations and our hard-earned dollars is upon us - welcome to our December On the Radar Preview! November 2014 was filled with tasty movie goodness, offering solid Oscar candidates with a collection of enjoyable animated fare. From Penguins of Madagascar to Big Hero 6 , November began and ended with some of the best the genre had to offer. Even the live-action sequel The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 delivered on many levels. The only stinker was the disappointing Dumb and Dumber To (but don't tell our writer Brandon Wolfe we said that). But now, it's on to December and the final push towards Oscar season, with Hollywood not sure if they'll beat 2013, but happily relieved that Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Solider saved them from a potentially disastrous year. But unlike previous months - especially August and September - our worry this month lies in the sheer number of quality releases:

#InherentVice Trailer Has Arrived

When private eye Doc Sportello’s ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a loony bin…well, easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that “love”

Robert Downey Jr In Inherent Vice

Robert Downey Jr . is making plans to fill the fall hole in his schedule with the lead role in Inherent Vice for writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson . Anderson has been working on a screenplay adaptation of the 2009 Thomas Pynchon novel while trying to get another film -- an untitled exploration of a religious organization sometimes referred to as The Master -- off the ground. Once Downey dropped out of Disney's Oz, the Great and Powerful last month, it freed him to do another movie later this year after he shoots The Avengers for Marvel and Disney. His commitment to Anderson's movie has recently grown serious. Vice is a comparatively accessible Pynchon work that tells the story of a stoner detective who gets wrapped up in a number of mysteries in 1969 L.A. while the Manson Family trial growls in the background. Downey, who last starred in Due Date and Iron Man 2, has wrapped filming on Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows for director Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros. T
