BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Rampage Video Game To Be Made Into A Film

Who’s up for a little Rampage? New Line Cinema has put into development an adaptation of the classic 1980s video game featuring apes and monsters destroying cities. John Rickard, who has acted as a co-producer on a wide range of New Line movies from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Final Destination to Horrible Bosses and next year’s tentpole Jack the Giant Killer, will produce and is meeting with writers to develop a story for the project. The game comes from Midway Games, which was acquired by New Line's sister company Warner Bros. in 2009 for $33 million. The concept of the game revolves around a trio of mild-mannered humans who are mutated into a giant Godzilla-like lizard, a werewolf and a gorilla, respectively, and fight the military while destroying buildings. Players controlled the monsters and moved up levels when a city was destroyed. The project aims to take advantage of the title and the visuals of the game. New Line isn’t usually in the tentpole business (th

Tarsem Singh Attached To Killing On Carnival Row

Tarsem Singh , whose latest film Immortals just opened and who follows with the Julia Roberts -starrer Snow White film Mirror, Mirror , has become attached to Killing On Carnival Row . That is a script by Travis Beacham that producers Arnold and Anne Kopelson originally set up six years ago. It was a hot spec and the very first sale for Beacham, whose subsequent credits include Clash of the Titans, Pacific Rim, the Disney remake Black Hole, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at Fox. The Kopelsons, who originally set it at New Line, have gotten close to making the film with Guillermo Del Toro and Neil Jordan, but they feel that Singh will put them over the top. Arnold Kopelson said he’s in talks with a studio he wouldn’t reveal but expects to begin production on the noir-style fantasy thriller next June in New Orleans. He’s starting to cast. The script takes place in the future in a city called the Burgue, which looks a lot like 18th Century London. It is inhabited by humans and othe

Could Another Friday Film Be On The Way?

It's been almost ten years since the last instalment, but Ice Cube and New Line are apparently keen to revive the slacker Friday franchise. The first Friday was a stoner comedy released in 1995. It's nominal plot involved Chris Tucker's need to get $200 back to local drug dealer Big Worm ( Faizon Love ) and Cube's face-off with bully Deebo ( Tiny Lister ), but its easygoing pace allowed for plenty of sitting around on porches, talking nonsense and smoking. Five years later, Next Friday was a broader tale of Cube staying with his cousin Day-Day ( Mike Epps ) and getting embroiled in some shenanigans against the trio of haplessly inept Latino gangstas next door (this was at the height of Cube's rather public spat with Cypress Hill, context fans). The Cube/Epps double-act continued into Friday After Next , which saw them as mall cops. There was also a short-lived animated series, although none of the movie series cast provided the voices. The first film wa

THE MUPPETS Movie Review By: Rama

THE MUPPETS Movie Review By: Rama Is Rama still in love with The Muppets after all these years? Please make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . THE MUPPETS makes me smile, makes me feel like a kid again. This film doesn’t have a single dull moment, I love every minute! Genius songwriter Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) should get nominated for his catchy original songs Man or Muppet and Life’s A Happy Song . I had my worries at first because the Forgetting Sarah Marshall team Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller’s brand of humor are in the same R-rated raunchy ring as Judd Apatow’s but Segel and Stoller are very respectful to THE MUPPETS characters and this whole property. There’s no innuendo and it’s very family friendly. Folks of all ages will enjoy the humor. Neither Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, Gonzo nor Pepe are any different than the way remembered them growing up. And Walter is a fantastic latest addition to one of the most beloved gangs of all time… Wh
