Stephen Sommers To Return For G.I. Joe Sequel

Stephen Sommers To Return For G.I. Joe Sequel " G.I. Joe " director Stephen Sommers will return to direct Paramount's sequel. There had been some doubts about whether Sommers would be brought back into the "Joe" fold, as there were conflicting reports across the blogosphere last summer that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio, but the alleged bad blood appears to have been resolved. Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is still in development at Paramount. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Collider reported earlier this year that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (" Zombieland ") were hired to write the sequel, and I'm told that the studio is happy with the draft they turned in. Sommers will likely produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. " G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra " grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year on a reported production budge

Channing Tatum To Play Addict In "What's Left of Us"

Channing Tatum To Play Addict In "What's Left of Us" The Dear John heartthrob and G.I. Joe action figure will star in What's Left of Us , based on Richie Farrell’s novel, which the author is adapting for the screen. Based on a true story, Tatum will play a heroin addict going through 7 excruciating days in detox. The project is one of 3 films that new London and Los Angeles-based producer and financier Berkeley Square Films has announced here. Meanwhile, BSF’s first $7M production, Black Pearl, will start filming in October. Star Wars star Mark Hamill, another board member, will direct based on his own Dark Horse graphic novel. Michael Uslan (The Dark Knight) is executive producing. Hamill tells me that Black Pearl will be a near-documentary look at what would happen if a vigilante dressed up as a superhero. “It’s about a guy addicted to adrenalin.” Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

G.I. JOE 2 Sent Out Special Mission To Zombieland Writers

G.I. JOE 2 Sent Out Special Mission To Zombieland Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been in the news this week when it was announced they had officially signed on to pen DEADPOOL for 20th Century Fox. IESB has exclusively learned that not only are these two writing the script for the Merc with the Mouth, they've also just been handed the sequel to G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA that hit theaters this past August with Stephen Sommers at the helm. We've reached out to Paramount and WME and are awaiting further comment. RISE OF COBRA was a big summer success released in theaters August 7 and grossing over $300 million in worldwide box office receipts alone as well as a ton of money in DVD and toy/merchandise sales. Reese and Wernick are most known for their work on the Sony Pictures' horror hit ZOMBIELAND that starred Woody Harrelson and grossed just under $100 million worldwide.
