Avatar 2 To Begin Filming In The Fall

The Avatar sequel is set to begin in the fall, according to Sigourney Weaver . “We’re starting!” the actress excitedly told The Hollywood Reporter at a screening of The Assignment , held Monday night at New York City’s Whitby Hotel. “We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.” James Cameron has previously noted that the scripts of all four Avatar films are completed, and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are also set to return alongside Weaver. But fans were disappointed to hear that the second film would not be ready for a 2018 release date. Though the sequel to the 2009 sci-fi blockbuster, which grossed $2.7 billion at the global box office, had not officially been dated, it was expected for Christmas 2018. Yet Weaver reassures that audiences’ patience will be rewarded in time. “I’m telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I’m not worried about [disappointing fans] at all,” she to

Movie Review: #AMonsterCalls

The well-intentioned A Monster Calls is a horribly-flawed Oscar wanna-be. Review by Matt Cummings For those of us who have witnessed the premature death of a parent, the story behind A Monster Calls should be a cathartic experience. Instead, its dark themes feel way too much for young people to handle and its "seen that before" experience will fall on older deaf ears. A Monster Calls tells the story of 12 year-old Conor (a thoroughly entertaining Lewis MacDougall) who is befriended by an ancient living tree (voiced by Liam Neeson). The only reason why this incredible event is happening is that Connor is witnessing the slow death of his mother (a merely adequate Felicity Jones), while his separated father (a completely misused Tony Kebbell) visits from far-away LA. Conor is tormented by a terrible dream of losing his mother, which sets the tree off to teach the boy a lesson about letting go. Through a series of three beautifully-rendered watercolor-styled st

Liam Neeson Reads The First Chapter Of Patrick Ness’ A Monster Calls

A visually spectacular and unabashedly emotional drama from director J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”). 12-year-old Conor ( Lewis MacDougall ) is dealing with far more than other boys his age. His beloved and devoted mother ( Felicity Jones ) is ill. He has little in common with his imperious grandmother ( Sigourney Weaver ). His father ( Toby Kebbell ) has resettled thousands of miles away. But Conor finds a most unlikely ally when the Monster (portrayed by Liam Neeson in performance-capture and voiceover) appears at his bedroom window one night. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth that powerfully fuses imagination and reality. Sigourney Weaver To Play The Villian In @netflix Defenders

Marvel's TV side had a lot of news to announce at this weekend's New York Comic-Con. Along with a new teaser trailer for Iron Fist came the revelation that all four Defenders – Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand – will be facing off against a baddie played by Sigourney Weaver. No details were released as to what character Weaver will be playing, or how her nefarious plans will roll out, but it's certainly an exciting piece of casting. “Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever!,” said Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. “She is by definition a class act.” With Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and more recent recruit Finn Jones preparing to shoot the Defenders miniseries that will unite their characters, the team-up should be on Netflix next year, though there was no announcement was made at the con. Aliens Reunion Happening At Comic Con

July 18 will mark three decades since James Cameron’s Aliens was released in theaters — which is only a little over half the time Sigourney Weaver ’s Ripley spent in hypersleep after the nightmare events of 1979’s Alien . In Cameron’s sequel, she awoke to learn her old life was gone – and new life in the form of a pioneer colony had sprung up on the empty planet where she and the deceased crew of the Nostromo encountered the hyper-predatory Xenomorph. It was not enough time for the two species to learn to live in harmony. To commemorate the release of the 1986 action/sci-fi classic, EW can reveal that San Diego’s Comic-Con will host an Aliens reunion on Saturday, July 23. Both Cameron and Weaver will participate in the Q&A in the 6,500-seat Hall H, along with producer Gale Anne Hurd, Bill “Game Over” Paxton, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, Michael Biehn, and the all-grown-up Carrie Henn . “That should be fun. Get the usual suspects back together,” Cameron says. Weaver sa

Story by David Clark It was announced today that the follow-up film to the wildly successful Avatar has been pushed out of 2016 and into 2017. James Cameron has big plans for the future of the Avatar franchise which was apparent when it was learned that Avatar would have not 1, but 3 sequels. The 3 upcoming films have still not received their finished titles. They are still known as Avatar 2 , Avatar 3 , and Avatar 4 . Exodus - Gods and Kings Review: Choppy Biblical Blandness

Exodus: Gods and Kings is utterly forgettable, poorly-cast nonsense. It's not hard to screw up Moses. Slaves wanting freedom against a dictatorial pharaoh, combined with plagues and the parting of the Red Sea. Yet somehow, Director Ridley Scott manages just that with Exodus: Gods and Kings , turning in a poorly-written and horribly-cast dud that wastes our time on so many levels. You've heard the story before: Egyptian warrior Moses (Christian Bale) and his life-long friend Ramses (Joel Edgerton) are soon divided when news reaches the royalty of Moses' birth to the very people which father Seti (John Tuturo) has enslaved to build his massive city. After Moses is banished from Egypt, he begins his long trek to save the Hebrews with Godly help in the form of plagues and murder. As Moses leads his people to a final showdown with Ramses' forces, God intervenes with the mother of all parlor tricks, sending Moses to fulfill his destiny. Scott's writing t
