BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Comes To Life

Guillermo del Toro , The Jim Henson Company and Pathe are ready to go on Pinocchio , a 3D stop motion animated adaptation of the Carlo Collodi fairy tale that will be edgier than the 1940 animated Disney classic. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson , and production will begin later this year. Grimly illustrated a 2002 book of Collodi’s tale that formed the basis for a project that is years in the making. The storyline was hatched by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins, and the script was written by the latter, who has collaborated with del Toro on scripts for Mimic , the remake Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark , and del Toro’s next directing project At the Mountains of Madness. Del Toro will produce with Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Jason Lust, and Allison Abbate. The Paperboy To Star Sofia Vergara & Bradley Cooper

Precious Director Lee Daniels Wants Sofia Vergara, Bradley Cooper for Thriller The Paperboy It’s been a year since Lee Daniels devastated us with Precious, but since then we’ve gotten precious little clarity about what he’d be doing next. (Is it The Butler, Selma, Anna in the Tropics? Or maybe that Fellini adaptation?) But now our spies tell us that Daniels appears to be settling on his next project, rewriting an adaptation of Pete Dexter 1995 novel The Paperboy that’s fast coming together at Relativity Media. We hear that Daniels was in town last week reading young actors for parts, and now hear that he’s made offers to  Bradley Cooper ,  Alex Pettyfer  (who should open at No. 1 this weekend in DreamWorks’s I Am Number Four), and Modern Family's  Sofia Vergara  to star in the thriller. Cooper would play Pettyfer’s older brother, Ward, while Vergara would play the wife of a death-row inmate. If you don’t know Peter Dexter the novelist (Paris Trout; Br...

Michelle Pfeiffer To Join Dark Shadows

Michelle Pfeiffer is in negotiations to reteam with Tim Burton for Dark Shadows , Warner Bros’ big-screen take on the 1960s gothic vampire TV soap opera starring Johnny Depp . The movie has an April start and has been casting up, with Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green and Bella Heathcote already on board. Depp will portray Barnabas Collins, a self-loathing vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love. Pfeiffer would play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the reclusive matriarch of the Collins family which runs the Maine town. The character has not left the mansion since the disappearance of her husband a decade earlier. Pfeiffer is finding herself very much in demand this new year. The actress is juggling a role in New Line’s all-star New Year’s Eve and shooting Welcome to People, the directorial debut of scribe Alex Kurtzman.
