Could Jason Clarke Play John Conner In Upcoming Terminator Film?

Clearly not content with being in just one big science fiction franchise re-working, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes ’ Jason Clarke now has his eye on fighting that other big threat to humanity – the machines. Clarke, probably best known for Zero Dark Thirty , is in talks to play John Connor in the Terminator reboot. Thor: The Dark World (and Game Of Thrones veteran) director Alan Taylor is calling the shots for this one, working from a script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The plot is largely being kept quiet, though it may well follow much of the basics of James Cameron’s original (wo)man vs. machine narratives with a few changes here and there (particularly if the intent is to launch a TV series to run alongside it). Connor, of course, is the heroic leader of the human resistance, the man who must help us battle Skynet and stop the species becoming a footnote that is deleted because the technological terrors are really good at using both weapons and Wikipedia. He’s

Could Orphan Black Star Tatiana Maslany Play Sarah Conner In Upcoming Terminator Film?

We’ve been wondering how long it’d take for the ultra-talented Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany to land a major movie gig, and it sounds like the moment could be coming soon. Maslany , who stars in the hit BBC America sci-fi series as half-a-dozen characters, is the latest actress to have allegedly tested for the role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming Terminator sequel. She joins Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) among the actresses rumored for the gig. Maslany is one heck of an actress, and she’s shown on Orphan Black that she’s capable of kicking a little ass. She’d definitely be an interesting choice. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the studio wants to cast the female lead before rounding out the rest of the cast. Other major roles include a Tom Hardy -esque version of John Connor, and John’s future (past?) father, Kyle Reese. Though this one is still early in development, it sounds like di

Will Sarah Connor Return In Terminator 5?

When Sarah Connor ( Linda Hamilton ) was thanklessly killed off in barely a single passing line in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines , it was a crushing blow to us fans of the series. And so it was for Terminator 5 director Justin Lin, who may be planning to bring her back. ''Sarah Connor is such a big part of the franchise, you know,'' Lin said in an interview with Moviehole . ''Yeah, I mean, I've always been surprised how in part 3 [Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines] she was just like ... It was like one line and she was gone.'' This is the rest of the exchange: Clint: She was dead, yeah, yeah. It was insulting, yeah. Lin: Yeah, like leukemia and ... But I think the great thing about this franchise is you have ... You can actually have different canons because you have the element of time travel. So, there's a way of kind of respecting all the works but also able to create a new time line. Clint: That's right. You can go back a

Rumor:Paul Walker To Play Kyle Reese In Terminator 5

Please remember this is strictly a RUMOR, nothing has been confirmed. whatsplaying is reporting that Paul Walker ’s name keeps coming up - could he possibly be Lin ’s pick for Kyle Reese ? Despite Mr Schwarzenegger’s recent scandlous issues, Megan Ellison - who recently inherited Skynet from the bankless Halcyon - is pushing on with her plan to make a new Terminator movie. As we reported exclusively in January, Justin Lin (Fast Five) has been shopping around a new Terminator movie, one that Arnold Schwarzenegger has agreed to be a part of, with Universal showing the most interest at the time (No studio is currently onboard). From the sounds of things, the big guy does have a fairly substantial role in the new story - which is said to involve that original timeline being torn, again - but this Terminator would mostly be anchored by a new, younger male lead (Paul Walker’s name keeps coming up - could he possibly be Lin’s pick for Kyle Reese?). Oh, and I think that’s where th

No Termination By Jonathan Cyfer

No Termination By Jonathan Cyfer Terminate: coming to an end or capable of ending - Merriam-Webster Dictionary 25 years have elapsed between the dawning of Skynet in the original Terminator film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as everyone's favorite T-101 and Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale as the once and future Messiah John Connor . The first three films revolved around a series of beings (one human and the rest terminators) being sent back in time to prevent John Connor from becoming the leader of the human resistance in the 21st century and destroying Skynet. Of course, Skynet's plan never worked. Even though Reese (in the original film) states that only he and the terminator were sent to the past before the time machine was destroyed, somehow, other time machines kept turning up and Skynet kept developing more advanced prototypes to send back in time to try and off Connor. After Reese bought the farm in the first film, the best the resistance could do w

I'll Be Back-New Terminator Film Moving Forward

I'll Be Back-New Terminator Film Moving Forward A new movie in the Terminator series, which last came to the screen in 2009's Terminator Salvation, may be one step closer to happening. According to Variety , the current owners of the rights to the franchise, a hedge fund called Pacificor LLC, announced today that it has hired the Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) to help sell the rights to a studio or production company. That's a smart move, since Pacificor has no prior experience making movies. The fund picked up the Terminator rights for $29.5 million in an auction last February after the previous owners, a company called Halcyon, went bankrupt. Pacificor had some post-auction talks with Sony and Lionsgate, who were also bidding for the rights, but nothing came of that. The now-defunct Halcyon itself bought the rights in 2007 for $30 million from original producer Mario Kassar, with financial help from Pacificor. The package include the rights

McG To Make Another Terminator Movie

McG To Make Another Terminator Movie The Halcyon Company is putting the Terminator Franchise up for sale and a buyer should be announced in February on next year. And McG really thinks they are going to let him Direct the next film, even if one gets made. Terminator-Salvation was that bad on a film, if they only stuck with the original ending. McG recently did a Blu-Ray Live commentary So what was the recation to what McG was saying? He just announced that he’s making another Terminator movie. Seriously. Oh and for those people who are punching themselves in the face that he’s making another one? He said he’s making one after that. And now McG is being coy about making another one? I don’t get it. And now he’s talking about a second or third movie again. He says Sarah Connor is going to be in the next film, but he’s not sure how he’s going to pull that off. Holy shit. He just said he thought he could make a better movie than #1 or #2. In answering a question about if Rober

McG Sunk Another Ship. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea On Hold

McG Sunk Another Ship. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea On Hold McG Killed The Terminator Franchise with one swoop ( he is attached to “Terminator 5") and it doesn't look like Disney wants anything to do with him for this film. Let's hope that is the reason they put the film on hold. Disney has put “Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” in dry dock. The picture, tentatively scheduled to begin production in February, has been halted indefinitely, and McG is no longer steering the ship. The studio confirmed that the studio won’t proceed with the film for now, and reps for the director confirmed he has withdrawn. McG will concentrate on other projects that include “Dead Spy Running,” a Warner Bros. drama that Stephen Gaghan is writing. McG is also attached to “Terminator 5,” though that movie is on hold indefinitely as the Terminator franchise works its way through bankruptcy court. McG just teamed with “Borat” helmer Larry Charles on a new NBC comedy. McG, who

Terminator Franchise Up For Sale?

Terminator Franchise Up For Sale? Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, who acquired the science-fiction franchise in 2007 for $25 million and produced this year's sequel " Terminator Salvation ," are looking to sell the rights as several companies owned by the two producers work their way through Chapter 11 reorganization. Since "The Terminator" was released in 1984, the franchise rights have changed hands frequently. When the first movie came out, production company Hemdale Films owned a 50% interest and director James Cameron sold the other half to producer Gale Anne Hurd for $1. Carolco Pictures, owned by producers Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna, bought Hemdale's stake in 1990 for $10 million and released "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" the next year. In 1997, after Carolco filed for bankruptcy, they started a new venture, C2 Pictures, which bought their old company's stake at auction for $8 million and the remaining 50% from Hurd for $7 millio

Is Terminator 5 in McG's Future?

Is Terminator 5 in McG's Future? I was one of the few people out there who didn't Think Terminator Salvation was that bad of a movie. Well of course the ending was bad. But the rest of the Movie holds up pretty well. Here is the article from IESB - But According to IESB McG has plans for a Terminator 5 Movie Hot off the heels of TERMINATOR SALVATION, director McG says he's already hard at work prepping the next installment regardless of the fan criticism he's received. He seems to be following the Michael Bay Transformers model and jumping right back into the franchise. At an interview with the producer/director about HUMAN TARGET his latest dive into TV starring Jackie Earle Haley, McG spoke candidly to IESB about the next TERMINATOR film. McG: Yeah. I'm prepping 20,000 Leagues, every day, but I'm concurrently prepping Terminator 5, another Terminator picture. So, we're cooking that up. And then, I'm very active in Spring Awakening, the musical, also.
