Monsters University Review By: AprilSpice. Witty & Funny

Monsters University Review By: AprilSpice Being a said, " Disney Freak ", that ' Monster's Inc .' was one of my favorite movie's from the early 00's, and that I have 3 girls whom the eldest was nicknamed " Boo " as a toddler with her brown pigtails, and big brown eyes, I was pretty excited when I heard there was going to be a 2nd ' Monster's Inc .' movie. The dvd has been bought at least 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years being re watched many times as one of my kid's favorite for at least a month or two. When I heard that the movie was going to be a prequel I was honestly pretty disappointed. Pixar set it up so well for a sequel with Sully going back to see Boo at the end of the first. Boo was such a beloved character that I thought it was a travesty they wouldn't be bringing her back! I wanted to know what happened to her! I saw the previews for 'Monster's University' and sure they were cute but I thou

Monsters University Review. Is Enjoyable But Utterly Forgettable Fare

Monsters University Review By: MattInRC The prequel comedy Monsters University is funny, digestible, and ultimately forgettable. How is it that a comedy which first arrived in 2001 took 12 more years to make a prequel-followup? It's not uncommon, but such time distance usually wrecks havoc on audiences' memories and appreciation of the current material. In other words, absence makes the heart forget. In almost an after-thought, Monsters University arrives ready to establish a franchise that should have started years ago. The result is an enjoyable but unremarkable film that takes too long to remind us why we liked Monsters Inc in the first place. Set up as an origin story, our tale follows the rise of the one-eyed monster Mike ( Billy Crystal , When Harry Met Sally) and the furry Sully ( John Goodman , Flight) as they attend Monsters University, hoping to embark upon a professional career of scaring young sleepers. Mike is the bookworm and not a good tes

New Monsters University Trailer. Let The Games Begin

As part of their big CinemaCon presentation last week, Disney talked up the latest Pixar film, Monsters University . Back when they were young, college-aged beasts, Mike Wazowski ( Billy Crystal ) and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan weren’t the good friends we know them as in Monsters, Inc . Nope: Mike was a small, nerdy, wannabe scare expert and Sulley (“Call me Jimmy”) was the oafish, exuberant, arrogant legacy student with a famous name and a laidback attitude to education. So what happened to make them bond? You’ll find out, as well as learning what happens when they both get kicked out of the scaring programme… Monsters University boasts an impressive voice cast surrounding the central pair, with Steve Buscemi and Frank Oz back as Randall and Fungus plus new recruits Aubrey Plaza, Nathan Fillion, John Krasinski, Charlie Day, Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina and Joel Murray . Parental Guidance Review. The Film Is A Victim Of The Times

Parental Guidance Review By: MattInRC The inoffensive but bland Parental Guidance is a nice throwback for families. And that's the problem. There was a time when nice live-action family comedies ruled the movie theaters. Forget about well-made, Oscar nominated-fare - we're talking about films you could sit your kids in front of for a good laugh while still appealing to mom and dad with hidden sexual innuendos. Parenthood, Father of the Bride, Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone became instant classics that extended the careers of Steve Martin, Chevy Chase , and other mid-aged actors desperately looking for paychecks. Today, many of these films feel antiquated and down-right tedious with their gags falling flat and the cuteness factor reminding us of cheesy schmaltz. I'm not sure what has caused us to look so negatively at these used-to-be classics, but they've certainly not held up. Parental Guidance finds itself a potential victim of the times in wh

Billy Crystal Talks Monsters University

Billy Crystal is getting schooled by Pixar — and he couldn’t be happier about returning to the “Monsters Inc.” universe and working again with fellow beastie John Goodman . “We’re having a blast together,” Crystal said Friday after a marathon recording session for “ Monsters University ,” which is planned for summer of 2013. “It’s really a great script, it’s really funny.” “That’s why I’m a little hoarse. I spent five-and-a-half hours today for our fourth session on ‘Monsters Inc. 2.’ And I have to tell you something, it is hilarious. The Pixar people are geniuses. It’s 10 years since the first movie. Yeah, it’s crazy. And it’s a prequel. They’re in college. It’s how they met, it’s how Michael and Sully meet, and plan to become scarers at Monsters Inc. — so this movie ends where the other one starts.” Crystal was on stage Friday night at a 20th anniversary screening of “City Slickers,” where he was joined on stage by surprise guest Daniel Stern for a sparkling night of humor and em
