John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein To Direct Flashpoint

For at least a couple of years now, the movie focusing on Justice League stalwart speedster The Flash has been floundering in development limbo, as directors came and went and scripts were produced then mostly used as firelighters. Finally, though, we might – stress on the might, given the history to date – have an actual director for what is currently called Flashpoint . Actually, make that directors, as Vacation's John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are close to a deal for the job. Flashpoint will focus on Barry Allen ( Ezra Miller ), though the official plot hasn't yet been announced. Given the writers/directors' usual focus (they also just made a new comedy called Game Night starring Jason Bateman and worked on the script for Spider-Man: Homecoming), we'd expect the movie to keep the lighter tone that would suit the character. Joby Harold wrote the most recent draft of the script, and the new directors will surely have input. The cast still presumab

#LadyBird Surged Into The Top 10 At This Weekends Box Office

Following the extended holiday last weekend, it felt as though the US box office was still slumbering, heavy with Thanksgiving leftovers and little energy for much that was new. No new wide releases emerged, so Pixar's Coco ruled the roost once again, leading a top 10 that was almost unchanged with $26.1 million, according to studio estimates. Managing to stay up despite missing expectations, Justice League saw in its third weekend in second place with $16.5 million, bringing its Stateside total to $197.3 million. Wonder , a considerable success so far, retained third position, adding $12.5 million and climbing closer to $100 million. At fourth, Thor: Ragnarok earned $9.6 million, pushing its own US total to date closer to $300 million. And at the back of the top five pack we have Daddy's Home 2 , which took in $7.5 million. Murder On The Orient Express repeated in sixth with $6.7 million, while the first change in the chart comes as Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird wi

#PixarCoco On Top Of The Thanksgiving Box Office

This past weekend was Thanksgiving in the States, and that means families are often looking for movies as a distraction from any arguments – particularly this year. Pixar was there to fill the attention span with its latest release, Coco , and the movie took in $49 million across the weekend, according to studio estimates. That sounds low for a Pixar release, but it's only part of the story; the tale of a young wannabe musician's journey to the Land of the Dead was actually released on Wednesday in the US, to get a head-start on the holiday and is currently sitting at $71.1 million domestically. Worldwide (excluding places such as here in the UK, where it doesn't open until January), the movie has made more than $153 million. Even the movie's basic total was enough to let it knock Justice League down to second, with the underperforming superhero movie adding $40 million for a $171.5 million total to date. Family pic Wonder was nudged to third and $22.3 million,

Justice League Under Performs At The Box Office

The reviews have not been exactly positive and speculation has been rife as to how Justice League would perform at the American box office. As it turns out, the movie arrived a little beneath its original stellar expectations, yet still managed to top the charts with a solid $96 million opening in the States, according to studio estimates. Movie Review: Justice League- Factoring in overseas business, the DCEU's latest entry is now on $281.5 million worldwide, which is healthy if not stellar. The domestic opening has been seen as a stumble after the success of Wonder Woman, but the big test will be repeat business. This new superhero arrival knocked Thor: Ragnarok from the top spot, but you have to head down to third to find it, as family drama Wonder , smartly counter-programmed against the League, saw big success. Writer/director Stephen Chbosky's latest opened to $27 million. And, as previously mentioned, Thor and co. were nudged down to third place with $21.7 milli

First Look At The Justice League's Plane The Flying Fox

EW delivers our first look at The Flying Fox. The Batman is typically kind of a loner,” Ben Affleck says. “I guess you’d call him kind of inward, you know?” The man who debuted as Bruce Wayne in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice laughs at his own understatement. After all, for most of the Caped Crusader’s history — and especially since 2008’s zeitgeist-defining The Dark Knight — the character’s been a brooding, traumatized hero. defined by lone-wolf vigilantism. Justice League Assemble In This New Image

Despite the dramatic, fog machine-aided setting, the assorted members of the Justice League almost could be lining up for school picture day in this new image. Still, take a look at Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher's Cyborg, Ezra Miller's The Flash and Jason Momoa's Aquaman in the latest still above. Notably missing, of course, is Henry Cavill's Superman, and we can only assume this comes from a part of the film where he's still presumed dead, his noble sacrifice spurring Affleck's Bruce Wayne to assemble the team to battle a dangerous, powerful new intergalactic threat. Either that, or Supes is picking up his spare cape from the dry cleaners and will be around shortly. The movie finds our heroes facing off against the danger of Steppenwolf and has already demonstrated that it'll try to inject a little more genuine fun in the story.
