Bill Murray To Appear in New Ghostbusters After All

Ex-Venkman no longer afraid of no ghosts. By Brandon Wolfe Bill Murray has famously spent the past two decades refusing to suit up for another Ghostbusters , much to the consternation of fans and Dan Aykroyd. But now it seems that Murray’s hesitation to appear in another Ghostbusters film merely hinged on actually having to strap on a proton pack because the actor is now slated to appear in Paul Feig’s currently filming Ghostbusters reboot. Murray was recently spotted heading toward the Boston set of the film to shoot a small part. However, don’t expect to see the actor reprising his iconic role as Dr. Peter Venkman. Birth Movies Death claims that Murray will be portraying a paranormal debunker named Martin Heiss, a role written expressly for the actor. Murray joins fellow former boy-in-grey Aykroyd, who also recently shot a cameo for the film. That just leaves out poor Ernie Hudson, but he has to be used to that by now. The new, female-driven Ghostbusters arrives in theaters

Emma Stone Turned Down Ghostbusters

The prospect of bustin' did not make her feel good. By Brandon Wolfe Back when Paul Feig’s female-driven reboot of Ghostbusters began congealing, one name that kept getting tossed around was that of Emma Stone, who was personally championed for the role by her Zombieland and Aloha co-star, former Ghostbuster Bill Murray. Now word comes that Stone was indeed offered a part in the film, but declined to participate, not wanting to take part in another mega-franchise so soon after her stint in the Amazing Spider-Man films. "The script was really funny,” said Stone. “It just didn't feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water." Speaking of the film, which begins shooting tomorrow with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth , The Boston Herald has unearthed a few tidbits about its heretofore unknown plot: Wii

Relax, Fellas. Dudes Are Also Getting a Ghostbusters

Bustin’ to make guys feel good again. By Brandon Wolfe Opponents to the recently announced female-driven Ghostbusters reboot (who have been nothing if not a perfectly reasonable and gentlemanly lot) can take solace in the news that Sony is also producing a male-centric Ghostbusters film as a companion piece to Paul Feig’s film. The studio has launched Ghostcorps, a production shingle headed up by original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and star Dan Aykroyd, and plans are in the works to trap a lot of promising talent into the project’s proton stream. Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Civil War , recently signed a first-look deal at Sony and are looking to direct and produce this latest Ghostbusters , with Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 scribe Drew Pearce writing the script. Channing Tatum is also attached as a producer, with an eye to star in the film. “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways

Ghostbusters 30th Reunion Entertainment Weekly Cover

In very depressing news for those of us feeling old, it’s now been 30 years since 1984’s Ghostbusters first graced the big screen. In more exciting news, the director and some of the stars of that beloved comedy reunited for Entertainment Weekly's latest Reunions issue that hits stands Friday. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts , and director Ivan Reitman all donned the iconic logo again. (Sadly missing: the late and greatly missed Harold Ramis whose Egon Spengler is still one of the coolest movie Ph.D.’s ever.) Speaking with Ghostbusters superfan Al Roker (he’s seen the movie over 100 times!) on Today , star Bill Murray recalled a very Bill Murray anecdote about making trouble on set. "We had that damn car, and in the uniform, with the car, even the cops thought we were above them somehow," he remembered. "We would do a take where we’d have to drive the car, and after they yelled ‘Cut,’ we would just keep driving. We would

Get On Up Review. Rousing Delight Simply Due To Boseman’s Performance

Review By Brandon Wolfe Our first glimpse of soul legend James Brown ( Chadwick Boseman ) is not a favorable one. In Augusta in 1988, a disheveled Brown pulls into a strip mall’s parking lot in a rickety pickup truck and enters a dreary business office that he owns. A seminar of some sort is being held inside and Brown notices that his private bathroom has been used by one of the attendees. He then proceeds to return to his truck to retrieve a shotgun, which he brandishes at the terrified drones, forcing them to dive out of their folding chairs in abject fear. Accidentally firing off a shot into the ceiling, Brown demands to know which among them relieved his or herself in his personal washroom before ascertaining the culprit, a tearful older woman. Brown ultimately decides to let the whole thing slide, but not before police sirens cry out in the distance. Clearly we are not catching the Godfather of Soul on his best day. ‘Get On Up’, the new biopic from Tate Taylor, dire

Tammy Review: 85 Minutes We'll Never Get Back

The listless and uninspiring Tammy is one of the worst films of the year. Tammy is one of those films you can see coming a mile away, a trainwreck whose strong cast could have prevented but sadly occurs because its driver is too enamored with her own creation to notice the obvious faults. Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) has had a really bad day: a deer hits her car, she loses her job, and finds her husband (Nat Faxon) screwing one of their friends (Toni Colletti). When she runs down the street to her mother (a way to young-looking Allison Janney), she makes contact with her senile grandmother Pearl (Susan Sarandon), who begs Tammy to take her on a roadtrip to Niagara Falls. Along the way, the two meet father-son duo Earl (Gary Cole) and Bobby (Mark Duplass), who are going through their own issues. Together with Pearl's friend Lenore (Kathy Bates), Tammy learns that most of her life's failures can no longer be attributed to other people, and that her future happiness is dep
