MEN IN BLACK 3 Review By: Matt C After a 10 year nap, Men in Black 3 returns refreshed and revitalized. With so many questions surrounding the 2012 Hollywood summer film lineup, you might forget about one of the most intriguing: Can a film franchise, without a major contribution in 10 years and a poorly received second effort, become relevant again? If recent examples (such as Indiana Jones and Rocky) are any indication, filmgoers are in for another disappointment. In fact, resurrecting the Men in Black franchise is not something one would bank on as a surefire hit. The franchise is not even in the top 25, with the Home Alone and Alvin & The Chipmunks series beating MIB by $100 million or more. So, is Men in Black 3 a rousing return for the boys in black, or is the 10-year gap too long to sustain this franchise? Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for Men In Black 3 . And given us just a tiny bit more of a clue what to expect from the film. In short: familiar gags like the use of the neuraliser; Will Smith jumping off a very tall building and Josh Brolin doing a really, really good Tommy Lee Jones impression. The plot sees Smith's Agent J travel back in time to prevent the assassination of his partner Agent K ( Tommy Lee Jones ) in 1969 - which he must do with K's younger counterpart ( Josh Brolin ). Jemaine Clement To Play Villain 'Men in Black 3' “Flight of the Conchords” star Jemaine Clement is in final negotiations to play one of the villains in Columbia’s “Men in Black 3.” Will Smith recently signed his deal to return as the alien-chasing government agent, as did returning director Barry Sonnenfeld. Most of the action is taking place in 1969, with Josh Brolin playing a young Tommy Lee Jones, who will bookend the movie. Most of the new casting will be the villains, whose identities, look and super-abilities are being kept under lock and key. It is known that Clement is playing a villain named Boris, who is described as being charmy and creepy at the same time. Men In Black 3 To Be Shot In 3D Barry Sonnenfeld told Showbiz 411 that in fact “Men in Black 3-D” is ready to roll. Will Smith has signed on, Tommy Lee Jones is in, and a script is awaited. Sonnenfeld says it is so. Why not? Everything else is, and this is one movie that might be cool in the process. Nevertheless, you can bet Sony is juiced to get this puppy moving since “Spider Man 4″ fell apart. They are in desperate need of a blockbuster for next Memorial Day May 2011. The actor is being considered for a role that would have him donning the black suit and shades for the third installment of the sci-fi comedy franchise. His exact part is a matter of discussion, but in recent days there's been chatter in Hollywood development circles of a few possibilities: He could play a new single-monikered government agent, with Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K passing the baton to Brolin's character. Studio has tapped "Tropic Thunder" scribe Etan Cohen to pen "Men in Black 3."
