“THE LION KING” FEATURING BEYONCÉ KNOWLES-CARTER

Disney’s “The Lion King,” directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. Staying true to the classic story, director Jon Favreau utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring the iconic characters to the big screen in a whole new way. Featuring the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon, Disney’s “The Lion King” opens in U.S. theate

Alfre Woodard Cast In Netflix's Luke Cage

Deadline is reporting Marvel’s Luke Cage may have found his match. I’ve learned that Alfre Woodard is finalizing a deal to star opposite Mike Colter in Luke Cage, the third series in Marvel’s four-series package at Netflix. Woodard will play a lead character listed on the breakdown as Minetta, a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life. In Luke Cage, Mike Colter, who will be first introduced in the second Marvel series for Netflix, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, plays Cage, a wrongly accused man who, granted superstrength by a sabotaged experiment, escapes prison to become a superhero for hire. Cheo Hodari Coker serves as executive producer and showrunner on the series, produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. Oscar nominee and Emmy w

Annabelle Review: Good Enough to Scare, Not Good Enough to Lead

The Conjuring prequel Annabelle loses steam after a compelling opening. We've been espousing on the renaissance of classic horror films like The Conjuring , Sinister , and Insidious for quite some time. Both have re-introduced fans to a better type of terror built upon simple but effective gags without showering the audience with too much blood and not enough compelling story, ala 2013's Evil Dead . The Conjuring origin story Annabelle tries to equal its predecessor, delivering solid but unimpressive results. An origin story set in the same world as Ed and Lorraine Warren, Annabelle was once owned by Jon and Mia (Ward Horton and Annabelle Wallis), a young married (and deeply religious) couple expecting their first child. When their neighbors are murdered by a duo of satanic cult members, the blood from one of the assailants drips into Annabelle, sparking a series of increasingly dangerous supernatural events. Even a change of scenery doesn't keep Annabelle aw

Just once it would be nice to meet a demon whose only concern is that we’ve remembered to lock the door behind us or set the DVR for the right show… With John R. Leonetti inheriting directorial duties from
