Blu-ray Review: @BadMoms

Bad Moms is a naughty, nasty, raunchfest that doesn't quite deliver on Blu-ray. Review by Matt Cummings As we headed into the home stretch for the Summer 2016 box office, one thing was abundantly clear: it was the worst in terms of quality releases as far back as I've been writing about it. Luckily, Bad Moms arrived to make that long list of trash a bit more bearable while establishing itself as potentially the sleeper hit of the year. And yet its message is one that I hope doesn't resonate with stressed out moms ready to party it up at the expense of their children. Sadly, the home release doesn't fare as well, displaying good audio, decent video, and a disappointing lack of extras. For stressed-out mom Amy (Mila Kunis), every day is spent rushing to parent meetings, working full-time hours at her part-time job, and trying to get her husband to actually do some parenting along the way. But when her marriage suddenly ends over a long-time affair, Amy i

Bad Moms Spin-Off Bad Dads Coming To Theaters In 2017

Variety is reporting STX Entertaintmet is planning a “ Bad Dads ” movie as a spinoff from its “ Bad Moms ” comedy and plans to release the film on July 14, 2017. “ Bad Moms ” has grossed nearly $180 million worldwide at the box office, making it the most successful release by far for two-year-old STX. STX Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group said Monday that it has numerous takes on this spinoff and will reveal additional details shortly. “Where other studios have automatically green lit traditional and significantly more expensive sequels, STX has determined those sequels on average are grossing 68% less than the originals,” the studio said. “Instead, STX has chosen to focus on extending consumer passion for the Bad Moms brand with a series of film spin-offs, a reality television show, short form digital content, and a robust consumer products program.” “Bad Moms” was produced for $20 million and opened to $23.8 million at the U.S. box office on the weekend of July 29-31 and

#SuicideSquad Extended Cut Coming To Blu-ray Dec. 13

Warner Bros. has released a teaser for the home entertainment release. It looks like Suicide Squad will be getting an extended cut after all. Warner Bros. has released a short teaser announcing an extended cut for the film's home entertainment release, which will be available on Digital HD Nov. 15 and Blu-ray Dec. 13. It feels good to be bad...Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself? A secret government agency,

Movie Review: #SuicideSquad

Suicide Squad is two parts Bat-crazy, one part Almost-Got-It. Review by Matt Cummings With the failure of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice luckily in our rear mirror, the DC movie franchise already feels like one at a crossroads. Having recently misused what is arguably the better collection of characters and stories (when compared to Marvel), fans and critics have rightfully doubted whether DC and Warner Brothers have what it takes to give Marvel a genuine contender. And while it's got another forgettable villain and squeezes too many stories into one film, Writer/Director David Ayer's Suicide Squad arrives to boldly state that DC is not dead yet. Having already locked up a collection of dangerous metahumans including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and Diablo (Jay Hernandez), the shadowy government agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) hatches a plan to use them as di

Movie Review: 'Max'

The formulaic dog story Max should be caged. Review by Matt Cummings In Director/Writer Boaz Yakin's Max , an army service dog is sent home to live with the family of the fallen soldier Kyle Wincott (Robbie Amell). At first, the surviving son Justin (Josh Wiggins) doesn't want the Belgian Malinois around, but his grieving parents Ray and Pamela (Thomas Haden-Church and Lauren Graham) decide to take Max in. As the parents struggle to incorporate Max into their home, Justin gets some much needed help to re-train the dog from his friends Carmen (Mia Xitlali) and Chuy (Dejon LaQuake). But when one of Kyle's fellow soldiers Tyler (Luke Kleintank) returns home to sell stolen weapons to a Mexican cartel, Max, Justin, and his friends must band together to root out the evil and win the day. Max is one of the worst films I've seen this year, filled with every stereotypical subplot imaginable and doing none of it very well. There's the grieving family who do

#Maxmovie Trailer Is Here Starring @RobbieAmell

As American Sniper proved a monster hit at the US box office, director Boaz Yoakin and the team behind Max must have been counting their blessings. Because this one combines inspirational military behaviour, a cute dog and a troubled teen all wrapped up in one mostly-–easy–to–digest package. The Max of the film is the dog – a working Marine pooch that has been serving in Afghanistan alongside his handler, Kyle ( Robbie Amell ). But when Kyle is killed in action, a shell-shocked Max is shipped off back home to recuperate and learn to live without him. Which is where Kyle’s family come in, and particularly his bolshie little brother Justin ( Josh Wiggins ). See, Josh is looking for a little direction in his life and when it’s discovered that no-one can work with Max given his PTSD, Justin is roped in to try and reach out to the dog. We’d say you can guess what’s coming next, but the trailer pretty much spells that out, and we don't mean it goes all Cujo. How you approach th
