2015 TV Winners and Losers

A look back at the highs and lows of 2015 television. By Brandon Wolfe Winners 1. Fargo (FX) Last year’s biggest surprise has evolved into television’s most consistently excellent and creatively energized series. In its second year, Fargo unleashed a boldly complex, tightly interwoven narrative concerning a brutal gang war in 1979, the hapless couple (Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst) who unwittingly ignite the fuse between the warring factions and the decent cop (Patrick Wilson) trying to keep order amidst the chaos and bloodshed. With a knockout cast, superb humor, delightful characters, defiant weirdness (those UFOs!) and more Coen Brothers references than you can shake a snow shovel at, Fargo is the best thing on the air right now, you betcha. 2. Justified (FX) After a penultimate season that seemed muddled and confused, FX’s contemporary Western came roaring back with its guns a-blazing, brimming with renewed purpose. The ballad of Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and

TV Review: Fear the Walking Dead "Pilot"

No, fear the boring show. Review by Brandon Wolfe Though it has hit its stride in the last couple of seasons, The Walking Dead was far from a strong show in the early goings. The show took its sweet time to figure itself out, a process exacerbated by a revolving door of showrunners. The show spent years lost in the wilderness, figuratively as well as literally, visibly struggling to decide just what it was that it wanted to do and who its motley collection of ciphers were supposed to be. These were things the show eventually did start to crack, but only just fairly recently. However, The Walking Dead ’s lone triumph in those early days was found in its fantastic pilot episode, which confidently set the stage for a series that didn’t seem to materialize in the episode’s immediate wake. In that 90-minute premiere, which aired Halloween Night 2010, Sheriff Rick Grimes is shot in the line of duty and goes into a coma, only to awake some time later in a broken world that bore little res

New #FearTheWalkingDead Images & Synopsis For The Show

"Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down.
