BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Chloë Grace Moretz Joins #Zac Efron & @Sethrogen In #Neighbors2

Chloë Grace Moretz  is joining Zac Efron and Seth Rogen in Universal’s sequel to their 2014 hit “ Neighbors .” Besides Efron and Rogen , Rose Byrne is on board to return, with director Nicholas Stoller also coming back. The original was a surprise hit with $269 million in worldwide grosses. The original revolved around a couple whose lives are turned upside-down after declaring war on the fraternity that moved in next door. The sequel’s plot is unknown, as well as the character Moretz will be playing. Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will produce under their Point Grey Pictures banner. Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien will serve as executive producers alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. Writers include Cohen, O’Brien, Rogen, Stoller and Goldberg. Moretz has made a career out of doing darker, edgier roles such as Hit Girl in the “Kick Ass” franchise and “The Equalizer.” “Neighbors 2″ will mark the first comedy for the rising star. She was last

Laggies Review: Unlikeable Lead Dooms This Standard Rom-Com

Laggies offers us nothing new, and a lead we can do without. Review by Matt Cummings Romantic Comedies seem to be on their way out: once the staple of Date Night, these estrogen-fests lurk on fantasy television programs wrapped around vampires and medical dramas. The reason for this change: Rom-Coms no longer make money, as Hollywood sets its sights on big returns from Horror and Superhero flicks. Sadly, the Lynn Shelton-directed Laggies does more to prove the genre's problems than solve them. For professional misfit Megan (Keira Knightley), every day is a struggle to stay focused on the prize: hanging out at her parent's house watching TV, with no motivation or career prospects, and watching her high school chums get married, have kids, and succeed in their careers. After Megan's boyfriend (Mark Webber) attempts an ill-advised marriage proposal at their friend's wedding - in which she also sees her father cheating with another woman - Megan runs off to

The Equalizer Review: Old Meets New in a Viciously Delicious Throwdown

The Equalizer is the most visceral, stylish, and rewarding experience in quite awhile. Summer movies, take note. As we've been talking about this week , the 80's drama/action television program The Equalizer is getting the full-on movie treatment, courtesy of a duo of heavy hitters: Director Antoine Fuqua and his Training Day leading man Denzel Washington. For those of us who thrilled to the weekly exploits of former Company spy Robert McCall saving New Yorkers in trouble, the thought of a movie version has obviously piqued our interests. And while there's very little comparison here to the original, moviegoers are in for a violent and ultimately rewarding experience. Robert McCall (Washington) is a thoughtful, well-read middle-aged gentlemen working at a local hardware supply store, his life falling into neat patterns of cleanliness and a spartan-like behavior. But deep inside, McCall is holding back a violent past that saw him fake his own death in order t

If I Stay Review: Typical YA Fare Lacks Emotional Punch

Although well-intentioned, If I Stay is yet another hollow YA cryfest. This has been the Summer of YA and the results have been meh - from Divergent to The Fault in Our Stars , 2014 has tried its best to bring in the teenagers, all while adults roll their eyes at the melodrama. If I Stay follows the same tired themes of teenage love mixed with tragedy, and the result is only slightly better than other submissions. Cellist Mia (Chloe Grace Moretz) has a natural talent: given the instrument as an infant, her talents have grown quickly. Yet her social life is one of missed opportunities and long hours practicing, until she and rocker Adam (Jamie Blackley) kindle an unlikely love affair. What Adam doesn't know is that Mia has applied to Julliard, which will take her far away from her Portland roots; Adam's band is gaining notoriety, and soon the two realize their time is limited. Everything comes to a tragic halt when Mia's parents (Mireille Enos and Joshua Le

"If I Stay" Trailer Has Arrived

Though we’ve gotten used to novel adaptations based around teens leaning towards dystopian futures or romances with supernatural creatures, the tearjerkers are coming back in force with the grounded likes of The Fault In Our Stars . If I Stay , however, treads both a fantastical and a romantic line, and the first trailer has arrived. Adapted from Gayle Forman’s 2009 bestseller , the film stars Chloe Moretz as Mia Hall, a young music prodigy who is experiencing her first taste of love with rocker Adam ( Jamie Blackley ). Wavering between her Julliard ambitions and her blossoming personal life, Mia is cast into an even more difficult situation when a devastating car crash kills her parents ( Mireille Enos and Joshua Leonard ) and leaves her in a coma. Chloe Moretz Will Join November Criminals

As “ Carrie ” prepares to scare up big business at the box office, Chloe Moretz has agreed to star in “ November Criminals ,” which British filmmaker Sacha Gervasi (“Hitchcock”) has rewritten and will direct for Indian Paintbrush, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap . Based on the 2011 novel by Sam Munson and initially adapted by Steven Knight (“Eastern Promises”), story is set in Washington D.C. and follows a rebellious teenager who finds himself leading his own investigation into the murder of a classmate. Moretz is attached to play the female lead of Phoebe, and Gervasi is currently casting the hotly-contested male lead. Indian Paintbrush principal Steven Rales will produce with Beth O’Neil, who previously produced Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut “Jack Goes Boating” with Big Beach Films. Knight will executive produce the film, which could start shooting as soon as late January 2014. Moretz, who recently starred in “Kick-Ass 2,” wil

Kristen Stewart Is Going To Be A Busy Girl

Kristen Stewart has committed to star in back to back projects shooting this summer. She will star in Camp X-Ray , a politically charged drama written and directed by Peter Sattler, and she will also star in the Olivier Assayas-directed Sils Maria . In Camp X-Ray , Stewart will play a young soldier who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn’t going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she’s sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the Muslim men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young man who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years. The film’s being produced by Gina Kwon and Sophia Lin, and exec produced by David Gordon Green, Lindsay Williams and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. Production begins late summer. Stewart will join Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz in Sils Maria , the CG Cinema-produced English language film that Assayas wrote for his Summer Hours star Binoche. The film explores midd

Chloe Moretz Could Stay

It seems somehow weirdly fitting that the adaptation of Gayle Forman’s life-or-death limbo choice romantic novel If I Stay has been spending lots of time hovering between production and development purgatory. Now it appears to be moving towards the light again – a green light, that is, with news that Chloe Moretz is attached to star and RJ Cutler is in talks to direct. The plot follows 17-year-old Mia, a gifted classical musician with an indie rocker boyfriend. One cold February morning, she and her family are involved in a car accident that leaves her drifting between life and death, and facing a hard choice: give in to her injuries, or fight to return to the love she knows. Foreman’s book first hit the Holly-radar back in 2009, when Catherine Hardwicke signed on to direct it for Summit, which had the rights. We thought it was a surprising move, as it came after the studio had decided not to have her make the Twilight sequel despite delivering a big hit the first time around.

New Carrie Poster. God Won't Help You

It took a while to get a real, official poster for Kimberly Peirce’s remake of Stephen King horror tale Carrie out in the world. That image, of a bloodied Chloe Moretz slotted firmly into the big-face-with-writing poster genre, and the spirit continues with a haggard-looking Julianne Moore as her fundamentalist mother, Margaret White. Featuring just a hint of the red stuff this time (check out her eyes), the picture sees Moore look a lot more terrifying than she usually does. Margaret, of course, is the obsessive, Bible-loving woman who decides her daughter’s newfound telekinetic powers are evil. With J udy Greer, Gabriella Wilde, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell and Michelle Nolden also in the cast. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

Merry Christmas From "Carrie"

Thanks to Sony for the Christmas Card. Thought I would share it with you all. Carrie is an upcoming 2013 American supernatural horror film. It is the third film adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel of the same name, and a remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 film of the same name, although it will more closely follow the novel. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Carrie White, and Julianne Moore as her mother, Margaret White. The film is scheduled to be released on March 15, 2013 Please Leave A Comment-

First Carrie Images Of Chloe Moretz & Julianne Moore

These new stills from Screen Gems' update of Carrie feature our first official glimpses of Carrie's mother, the God-fearing Margaret White, and of course of her daughter, Carrie herself, as essayed by Chloe Grace Moretz . It's a fairly standard image of Margaret, in gauzy bride-of-Christ white, although Moore is undoubtedly great casting for the role. But what's interesting here is that Screen Gems have taken the bull by the horns (or the blood bucket by the handle) and decided to lead with the Brian De Palma film's most famous image: Carrie drenched in gore at the high school prom (see below for the Sissy Spacek version). It's a brave decision, and one that's perhaps designed to immediately get those comparisons out of the way. Perhaps future reveals will focus on what's different about the new film, rather that what's the same. See images after the Jump... Director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry) says she's, reasonably enough, gon

Jim Carrey Wanted For Kick-Ass 2

I am not sure he’s going to say yes, but Jim Carrey is being courted by Universal to play a showy supporting role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall , the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s crazy superhero movie. The character is called The Colonel , and he helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. The sequel brings back Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicolas Cage . Carrey is a big fan of Matthew Vaughn and his original Kick-Ass film. Here, he wore the Kick-Ass costume for a musical duet with a bearded Conan O’Brien. But dealmaking is dealmaking, and this is far from a sure thing, at this point just a great idea. Kick-Ass 2 Casting News

As director Jeff Wadlow gets ready to roll the cameras on Kick-Ass 2 , he’s filling in some of the smaller roles. Just today, two actors have been added to the line-up, with Morris Chestnut and Robert Emms jumping aboard. Chestnut , who was last seen in Think Like A Man , is on to play Hit-Girl ( Chloe Moretz )’s guardian, who takes over caring for her in the wake of Big Daddy ( Nicolas Cage )’s death in the last movie. Hit-Girl in the sequel initially opts to retire from her life of ass kicking, but soon gets back in the game. Emms , meanwhile, will be Insect Man, a part of a league known as Justice Forever, and a former cop who fights crime after being disillusioned by the corruption and lack of competence of the force. Wadlow, who wrote the script and is directing under the guidance of Kick-Ass godfathers Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn, is now aiming to start shooting next month and has been handed a US release date of June 28, 2013. He’s returning the likes of Aaron Johns

DARK SHADOWS Movie Review By: Matt C

DARK SHADOWS Movie review By: Matt C Does  DARK SHADOWS  honor the trippy original, or cast further doubt on the Depp-Burton alliance? DARK SHADOWS  is a strange film to pin down, and that's usually a good thing for director Tim Burton (Batman). Over 10 films, he and actor Johnny Depp (Public Enemies) defined the genre of wacky with brilliant brush strokes, painting lush environments with memorable characters who defied convention. And while  DARK SHADOWS  contains its fair share of all the above, the film really exemplifies the "Jack of All, Master of None" mentality, something very un-Burton like. It doesn't know what it wants to be half the time, straddling between action, bizarre camp comedy, and watered-down horror, but doing none of them very well. Depp plays Barnabus Collins, an 18th Century vampire who is awakened in 1972 after being buried in an iron casket for enjoying the taste of human blood. Being a nightcrawler isn't really his fault:
