Drew Goddard To Direct & Write X-Force Movie

He's had both superhero success (launching Daredevil for Netflix) and disappointment (Sony's stymied Sinister Six), but Drew Goddard will be hoping for fairer winds when he handles X-Force , set to bring Ryan Reynolds ' Deadpool and Josh Brolin 's Cable back to our screens as writer and director for Fox. With Reynolds, regular X-producer Simon Kinberg and fellow franchise overseer Laura Shuler Donner involved, X-Force will find the Merc with a Mouth and his fellow mutant leading a black ops group of mutants who specialise in the sort of ruthless behaviour that Professor X would never allow. Think Suicide Squad, but in the X-universe. Or, maybe not. Jeff Wadlow was working on an earlier script, but Goddard has likely started afresh. The mutant universe is continuing to expand, with X-Men: New Mutants finished shooting, Deadpool 2 in progress (featuring the introduction of Brolin's character) and, for the main series, Kinberg stepping up to direct X-Men: Dark Ph

Here Are The Candidates to Direct The New Spider-Man

Not a lot of winners caught in this web. By Brandon Wolfe The search for yet another Peter Parker is narrowing down for the Sony/Marvel reboot of Spider-Man and now the hunt for a new director has turned up a shortlist of candidates, according to Deadline . Reportedly, the pool that is being looked at includes Jonathan Levine ( 50/50 , Warm Bodies ), Ted Melfi ( St. Vincent ), Jason Moore ( Pitch Perfect ), John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (the upcoming Vacation ) and Jared Hess ( Napoleon Dynamite ). For those among us who groaned at Sony’s previous Spidey choice of Mark Webb, who only had the fizzily slight rom-com (500) Days of Summer under his belt before being handed the job, this list of similarly untested directors of lightweight comedies doesn’t inspire much in the way of enthusiasm. Perhaps a Spider-Man film doesn’t need a heavy-hitter director, but someone with some degree of experience with action and visual effects would seem optimal. Conspicuo

Drew Goddard Tapped For Spider-Man Relaunch

Sinister Six writer stays in Spidey’s web. By Brandon Wolfe Latino Review has published a report stating that Drew Goddard, director of the fantastic Cabin in the Woods , is expected to take the helm on the Marvel/Sony jointly-produced new Spider-Man solo film. Goddard was previously set to write and direct Sony’s likely-now-aborted Sinister Six film, so he already had his toe deep in the Spidey waters, making the most sense to lateral him over for this new franchise direction (that he’s close friends with Marvel guru Joss Whedon, having co-written Cabin with him and having cut his teeth of several of Whedon’s TV series, likely didn’t hurt). It’s unclear if any of Goddard’s work on Sinister Six will be reappropriated for this new film, though Latino Review suggests that the first film (which will possibly be titled The Spectacular Spider-Man - since Amazing was already taken by those movies that weren't - and is said to be the first of a new trilogy) will involve t

Vincent D’Onofrio Cast As Kingpin In Netflix's #Daredevil Series

While most of the recent news about the Marvel / Netflix Daredevil series has been focused on show-runner Drew Goddard dropping out and Steven S. DeKnight stepping into his shoes, we have at least learned that Charlie Cox will be playing Matt Murdock in the show. Now we have an idea who one of his main opponents will as, Vincent D’Onofrio has signed on to be The Kingpin . Also known as Wilson Fisk , the moneybags troublemaker is probably the best-known adversary for the Man Without Fear, and a somewhat natural choice for the show, since he doesn’t require expensive effects to bring to life. “We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining Marvel’s Daredevil in such an integral role,” says Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television in a statement. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero." He was most famously played on screen by Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 take on the s

Charlie Cox Will Play Daredevil In The Netflix's Series

He'll play the crime-fighting hero at the center of Netflix's 13-episode drama series. Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil has found its leading man: Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox . Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Cox will star as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer by day and crime-fighting hero by night in the 13-episode drama. Cox becomes the first person cast in the drama series based on the Marvel Entertainment comics of the same name. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lost alum Drew Goddard was set to serve as showrunner on the series. After signing on to Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Sinister Six, Goddard was replaced over the holiday weekend by Spartacus (and Buffy) alum Steven S. DeKnight, who will now oversee the show. Goddard will remain on as an exec producer and serve as a consultant on the drama. Marvel and Netflix declined comment on Cox's casting. Official confirmation is expected to come shortly. For his part, Cox has been a sought-

Drew Goddard To Write & Direct Sinister Six Film

Drew Goddard also is writing the film, which will focus on the villains of the Spider-Man universe. The Cabin in the Woods helmer Drew Goddard is nearing a deal to direct Sinister Six , the Spider-Man spinoff that he's also writing. Goddard, who worked with Kurtzman, Orci and Jeff Pinkner on TV’s  Alias , was one of the saviors of  World War Z  after that movie ran into third act trouble. He wrote and made his directorial debut with the 2012 horror film  The Cabin in the Woods , and will write and executive produce Netflix's  Daredevil . In December, Sony hired Goddard to pen the script for the film, which will focus on the villains in Spider-Man's world. In an effort to expand the Spider-Man universe, Sony in December also hired Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci , and Ed Solomon to work on another spinoff, titled Venom , centered on the black-costumed villain that already made his big-screen debut in the third Spider-Man movie of the Sam Raimi trilogy. Kurtzman will d
