The Essex Serpent Starring Claire Danes & Tom Hiddleston Premieres May 13th on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ revealed a glimpse at “ The Essex Serpent ,” and announced that the much anticipated six-episode Apple Original limited series based on Sarah Perry’s bestselling novel of the same name will debut globally with its first two episodes on Friday, May 13, 2022. Starring a stellar cast led by Emmy and SAG Award winner Claire Danes , Emmy Award nominee Tom Hiddleston, Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires , “The Essex Serpent” follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.   “The Essex Serpent” is directed by BAFTA Award-nominee Clio Barnard, written by BAFTA Award-nominee Anna Symon. Sundance Channel Acquires My So-Called Life

Sundance Channel has acquired rerun rights to 90s cult hit My So-Called Life , the network announced Thursday. The series will bow April 25 at 11 p.m. and air Mondays at 11 p.m. “We love My So-Called Life because it’s both substantive and engaging,” Sarah Barnett, Sundance general manager and executive vp, said in a statement. “We’re delighted to bring back the series for the passionate audience that adored the show when it first premiered and we’re thrilled to introduce it to a whole new audience that can enjoy it for the first time. The timeless stories hold up brilliantly.” My So-Called Life joins previously announced Sundance acquisition The Comeback, the Lisa Kudrow starrer that had a brief run on Showtime. The Marshall Herskovitz/Edward Zwick series, which starred Claire Danes and Jared Leto , was a critical success but a ratings failure airing only one season on ABC. Claire Danes To Star In Showtime's Homeland

Claire Danes Finds A Home At Showtime Claire Danes has officially signed on in the lead role of Showtime pilot Homeland , the network announced Thursday. The Emmy winner will play a driven CIA officer in the pilot, loosely based on the Israeli television series " Prisoners of War ." The actress, who recently won an Emmy for HBO's Temple Grandin , centers on an American solder taken captive during an invasion in Iraq in 2003, but returns to the U.S. after years in hiding. Danes will play Carrie Anderson, a driven CIA officer fighting psychological demons and is convinced the intelligence that led to a soldier's recapture was a setup. Homeland comes from Howard Gordon (24), who serves as executive producer along with Alex Gansa (24, The X-Files), and is loosely based on the Israeli television series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff.
