Production is scheduled to begin in September on “ The Finest Hours ,” starring Chris Pine (“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” “Star Trek”), Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee Casey Affleck (“The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Ocean’s Thirteen”) and Holliday Grainger (“Cinderella,” “Bonnie & Clyde”). In February of 1952, one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast struck New England, damaging an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally ripping it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with frigid temperatures and 70-foot high waves, four members of the Coast Guard set out to rescue the more than 30 stranded sailors trapped aboard the rapidly-sinking vessel. “The Finest Hours” is the story of their heroic mission, which is still considered the greatest small boat

Million Dollar Arm Review: Throws a Wild Pitch in Key Innings

Million Dollar Arm wants to inspire you. Here's why it doesn't fully accomplish its goal. Review by: Matt Cummings The story of baseball has matured over the years, once a white-only game then a highly-inclusive one made up of players from all over the world. But in the feel-good Million Dollar Arm , we learn that the final destination isn't as important as the journey, even if the story doesn't quite get that message quite right. As a sports agent, JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) could once sell ice to an Eskimo. His slick-talking style yielded representation of former players Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders, making him a star in a league filled with them. Unfortunately, JB's current effort to strike out on his own hasn't produced the same fruit. Stuck in front of his television after a failed negotiation, JB learns about the game of Crickett and soon realizes that India might be the last untamed resource for professional baseball players. He journeys there

Craig Gillespie Talks Pride And Prejudice And Zombies

Jane Austen purists, eat your heart out. It’s going to happen to some of your favorite characters anyway. Lars and the Real Girl director Craig Gillespie finalized his deal yesterday to helm the big-screen version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies , based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s bestselling fusion of Austen’s 19th century comedy of manners and romance with a nightmarish horde of flesh-eating undead. Gillespie recently wrapped a remake of the ’80s cult classic Fright Night , with Colin Farrell as the unfriendly neighborhood vampire, and plans to begin shooting P+P+Z at the end of summer. Gillespie spoke exclusively to EW about how he plans to make zombies seem natural in the early-1800′s British countryside, and whether Austen film alums Colin Firth and Keira Knightley could make cameos… I’m trying to think of a common thread between your three recent films – Lars and the Real Girl, the Fright Night remake, and now Pride and Prejudice and Zombies — and all I can figure is tha

DR. Who And McLovin Join The Cast Of "Fright Night"

DR. Who And McLovin Join The Cast Of "Fright Night" David Tennant , best known for starring in the BBC series “ Doctor Who ,” and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are joining the cast of “ Fright Night ,” DreamWorks’ remake of the cult 1985 film. Tennant and Mintz-Plasse join Anton Yelchin as Charlie, a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Toni Collette is the teen’s disbelieving mom, who falls under the vampire’s spell. Tennant will play Peter Vincent , a character who in the original movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he’s a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he’s less than helpful. Mintz-Plasse is playing Evil Ed, Yelchin’s friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire’s coven. The movie marks the first real foray into

Colin Farrell Joins Cast Of Fright Night

Colin Farrell Joins Cast Of Fright Night Colin Farrell has stayed away from studio films in the last few years, but now has found two he can sink his teeth into. I'm told Farrell has just committed to play Jerry Dandrige who is the neighbor/vampire in Fright Night, the Craig Gillespie-directed DreamWorks remake of the 1985 thriller that will also star Anton Yelchin and Toni Collette. In Fright Night, he'll play the role originated by Chris Sarandon, the charming bloodsucker who tries to cover his tracks when his young horror-film-fanatic neighbor become sure he's a vampire come to drain the populace. I can remember when the strong buzz off the Joel Schumacher-directed Tigerland convinced studios that the Irish actor was going to be the next Tom Cruise. The majors threw all kinds of projects at Farrell, with multi-million dollar offers. It wasn't going at all well at the box office for Farrell by the time he did his last big studio film, Miami Vice with Universal
