#Gambit Dropped From It's Original Release Date

With thudding inevitability, Fox's release-date reshuffle has seen X-Men spin-off Gambit pulled from its original release date of October this year. A new slot for the Channing Tatum -fronted superhero vehicle hasn't yet been announced. This is not necessarily bad news for the film; in fact it's eminently sensible. With original director Rupert Wyatt departing the project last September, and his replacement Doug Liman only coming aboard in November, October 2016 was never looking realistic. It turns out that 11-month turnaround really was too tight. Gambit now has time to come together properly, and with Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse both out this year, we're hardly deprived of X-Men to tide us over. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner remain producers on Gambit, which Tatum has been chasing for some years. Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay, based on a treatment from comic book stalwart Chris Claremont. It's planned as a stand-alone film which, in Tatum’

Doug Liman In Talks To Direct Gambit

With original director Rupert Wyatt departing the project two months ago, it was looking as if the X-Men spin-off Gambit may not make its planned release date of October next year. Channing Tatum 's superheroics should now be back on schedule, however, with Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman in final talks to step aboard. Liman already has a strong relationship with Fox having made Mr & Mrs Smith and Jumper with the studio to solid box office results. He’s also, clearly, experienced with both big name talent and effects. Gambit is not his first brush with a Fox/Marvel project either: he was on the shortlist to direct The Wolverine after Darren Aronofsky dropped out. That gig was ultimately won by James Mangold. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner remain producers on the project, which Tatum has been chasing for some years. Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay, based on a treatment from comic book stalwart Chris Claremont. It's planned as a stand-alone film whi

More Bad News For The Gambit Film. Rupert Wyatt Exists

THR is reporting Director Rupert Wyatt has fallen off Gambit , the Channing Tatum X-Men spinoff being made by Fox. Changing script caused the film's budget to be larger than expected, extending the shoot, and prompting the push. Another source said that the shooting schedule around Mardi Gras caused the reshuffling. Either way, it became a conflict for Wyatt, who had to exit. "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project," said Wyatt in a statement. "I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film." The movie project is an important one for the studio, which is hoping that it launches onto the screen as an important character as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, one of the lynchpins of the X-Men universe. Josh Zetumer penned the script for the film, based on a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremo

Lea Seydoux Offered Female Lead In #Gambit

According to THR Lea Seydoux has received an offer to star in Gambit , 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff movie, opposite Channing Tatum . Rupert Wyatt, who directed Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes , will direct the film. Josh Zetumer penned the script for the film, based on a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont. Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing. Seydoux just has an offer at this point, so there's always the possibility that it won't make. But if it does, she'll play the head of the Assassin’s Guild, a woman named Bella. Gambit, centering on the card-throwing superhero who can manipulate kinetic energy, is slated for release Oct. 7, 2016. Seydoux is known for her work in Blue Is the Warmest Color, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Saint Laurent. Her upcoming projects include The Lobster, which premiered at Cannes, and the next James Bond film, Spectre. Please Leave A Comment-

Channing Tatum Possibly Walking Away from Gambit

Gambit may not pay off for actor. By Brandon Wolfe The Wrap has reported that Channing Tatum is planning to exit 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spin-off Gambit , which was scheduled to begin production this fall for a planned release on October 7, 2016 . No reason has been given for this sudden development, but a source claims that Tatum’s reps are still in discussions with the studio to try and rectify the situation. If Tatum does walk away from Gambit , it will be a major turnaround, as the film was something of a pet project for the actor, one he took to Comic Con earlier this month to promote. Director Rupert Wyatt will have precious little time to find a new leading man or risk the project falling apart. I guess they could always give Taylor Kitsch another spin, in the slim hopes that True Detective has taken some of the tarnish off his star. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . The Gambler Review: Wahlberg Elevates His Game, But Does the Script?

Does The Gambler achieve Oscar glory, or it does it make the 2014 'great acting/poor scripts' trash pile? Review by Matt Cummings Unfortunately, The Gambler 's stellar performances are lost on a script that doesn't seem to know how the real world works. For trust funder Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), life is a pretty dull affair. A well-reviewed writer who gained all of $7,000 for his work, the only excitement Jim can find is through illegal gambling, and playing with big sums of money. He's soon up beyond his ears in debt, and his bankroller Mr. Lee refuses to play along. It's here that Jim enlists a collection of ruthless loan sharks including the gangster Neville (Michael Kenneth Williams) and the scary bald guy Frank (a mostly unclothed John Goodman). But it's the love from one of Jim's students (Brie Larson) who represents the last chance he has to bring himself back from the brink of a perceived failed life, while another promises t

Rise Of The Apes First Look A prequel to the original 1968 Planet of the Apes . The film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and will be released on June 24, 2011. Unlike previous films in the series, the apes in the film will be created digitally using CGI technology. The photo below shows us James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis filming a scene from the movie. Serkis is playing an ape in the film which is why he's sporting the motion capture suit. This will be the second time he's played a monkey in a movie, the first was for Peter Jackson's King Kong. James Franco To Become An Ape

James Franco To Become An Ape James Franco has his damn dirty paws on the lead role in “ Rise of the Apes ,” Fox’s prequel to its “Planet of the Apes” franchise. Rupert Wyatt is on board to direct the feature project, which focuses on a scientist (Franco) who has been working on a cure for Alzheimer's that is being tested on apes. The test subject named Caesar starts to evolve rapidly, and the scientist takes him home to live with him and protects him from cruel doctors. The story is designed to be show the modern-day event that set in motion the eventual dominance of apes over humans seen the classic 1960s and '70s movies. It is unclear how much of the movie will focus on the ape inciting an ape revolution, but given that effects company WETA is on board, the monkey play could be significant. The apes will not be actors in costumes but rather rendered digitally to be photo-realistic by WETA, employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for “Avatar.”
