BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

An Edgier Snow White Coming Our Way

An Edgier Snow White Coming Our Way The billion dollar worldwide gross of Alice in Wonderland has turned public domain fairy tales into the hottest segment of an otherwise sluggish script marketplace. In the latest deal, Relativity Media has made a preemptive acquisition of The Brothers Grimm: Snow White , an edgy 3D re-imagining of the German folk tale written by Melisa Wallack . The deal has aggressive progress to production stipulations in the preemptive deal and I'm told the writer will make low seven-figures if the project gets made.  The Brothers Grimm: Snow White will be produced by Bernie Goldmann (who produced Meet Bill), Ryan Kavanaugh and Brett Ratner , with Tucker Tooley exec producing and Rat Entertainment exec John Cheng also involved in a producing capacity. Ratner previously got Kavanaugh to acquire the Sundance Film Festival documentary Catfish, and most recently Skyline, the scifi alien invasion thriller directed by Greg and Colin Strause which sold at Cannes

Blood Oath Book Review By: Beevers

Blood Oath Book Review By: Beevers Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth is not just another vampire book. For those of you who are tired of the Twilight mania (even those of you that are not) and like a good vampire story this is the book for you. The premise of the book is that the great protector of the President and the United States is a vampire that was pardoned by Andrew Johnson in 1867. After his pardon he is forced to take a blood oath binding him to the President of the United States and to protect the nation against all threats. In the beginning of the book we also meet Zach Barrows , the young ambitious deputy director for White House affairs, who has been assigned by the President to be the new human liason for Nathaniel Cade , the president's vampire. Zach's first response to meeting Cade is to wet his pants. This is the kind of reaction that I think most people would have is in fact they were to meet a vampire which is one of the things I love about t

Star Wars World Cup 2010 Ad

Star Wars World Cup 2010 Ad The Adidas commercial for World Cup 2010 has gotten creative. In collaboration with Lucasfilm , they’ve managed to combine footage from Star Wars with special appearances by David Beckham, Daft Punk and Snoop Dogg. Can you name who else makes a guest appereance? “To seamlessly integrate new shots of David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and company into original Star Wars footage, a set was created to replicate the original dimensions of that bar featured in the film. This enabled the performers to work realistically with the props, make the correct eye-lines and so on. Where they were required to interact with Star Wars characters, stand-ins were used to ensure a realistic performance. The color palettes and lighting conditions of the new shots were also carefully chosen so they could be easily blended with the original footage. To bring the new ad up to date, television screens featuring a football match together with various pieces of football memorabilia were

Rediscovering the Essential Superman By:jonathancyfer

Rediscovering the Essential Superman By:jonathancyfer We want to welcome guest writer jonathancyfer to the site and we are looking forward to adding him to our sandwich family. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) discussed his role as " mentor " for the upcoming Superman film reboot , scheduled for release during the 2012 holiday season. One of the most widely circulated statements made by Nolan was: "What you have to remember with both Batman and Superman, is that what makes those the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who those characters were when they were created and when they were first developed. And you can't ever move too far from that." There is a tremendous amount of speculation regarding what form the new Superman film will take. Assuming that Nolan will have more than a passing amount of influence on the movie franchise's r

The Crow Reboot Is On It's Way

The Crow Reboot Is On It's Way We have word on Stephen Norrington 's reboot of The Crow . To whit (no wait, that's an owl), according to producer Edward R Pressman, shooting is expected to start this year, and "things are moving ahead very aggressively". "We've got an offer out to a major actor," says Pressman, tantalisingly. He also teases that this will be a very different film to the Alex Proyas / Brandon Lee original from 1994. "Steve has created a very different visual idea," we're told, with Avatar production designer Rob Stromberg's sketches apparently looking quite unlike what's gone before. There will be two locations, an urban centre (possibly Detroit, like the original) and a South-West setting, which suggests that, maybe, The Crow is flying into Western territory that might suit the formula (wronged murder victim back from the grave to exact revenge on the perps) rather well. Wicked Prayer, the last of the

Metal Gear Solid Film What's The Deal?

Metal Gear Solid Film What's The Deal? With all the video games being made into films, Metal Gear Solid is up there on my wish list to get made. According to writer David Hayter, here's whats going on. They’ve been trying to work out a deal between [creator Hideo Kojima] and [Sony]. A couple of years ago, a producer friend of mine asked me if I would be interested in doing the adaptation. And I said ‘Of course. I know it pretty well.’ I think I can say without contradiction that I know it better than any screenwriter on the planet. I’ve said every word that Snake has said. So I felt well-qualified So he wrote the script for the film, turned it in and all of a sudden.... nothing happened. There are no real details about why the film adaptation fell through. It's reported that it could be due to political reasons on Konami's (the game publisher) side. Hayter adds, On top of that, I don’t believe they were ever able to successfully close a deal between Mr. Kojima

Christopher Nolan Talks Superman Reboot

Christopher Nolan Talks Superman Reboot In the latest issue of Empire magazine Christopher Nolan had comments to share on David S. Goyer and the upcoming Superman reboot he's penning and producing. Nolan had this to say; “..What it is, while David Goyer and myself were putting together the story for another Batman film a few years ago, you know thrashing out where we might move on from the Dark Knight, we got stuck. We were just sitting there idly chatting and he said ”by the way, I think I know how you approach Superman”.. and he told me his take on it. I thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time I’ve been able to conceive of how you’d address Superman in a modern context I thought it was a really exciting idea. What you have to remember about Batman and Superman is that what makes them the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who they were when they were created, when they were first developed. You can’

Guillermo del Toro Has Left The Hobbit

Guillermo del Toro Has Left The Hobbit I've got some pretty terrible news for all of you. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but Guillermo del Toro is no longer going to direct The Hobbit . Last week Del Toro gave an update on what was currently going on with The Hobbit, and I knew if something didn't actually start happening quick the production would start falling apart, and now Del Toro has dropped out of the project. This is all due to MGM's financial problems. They can't seem to get it together, and Del Toro just couldn't wait around anymore. After all... he's got a ton of other film projects that he wants to start working on. Del Toro announced the news himself through the Lord of the Rings fan site The One Ring . So, Del Toro will not direct The Hobbit, but he will continue to collaborate with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens on the films scripts, until they are completely done. Who will step in to take del Toro's place as dire

Sex And The City 2 Review By: Windy

Sex And The City 2 Review By: Windy Windy reviews “Sex And The City 2". Take a swing by her website and check out what she’s been up to lately. Sex and the City 2 (SATC), directed my Michael Patrick King and starring Sarah Jessica Parker , Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon , opens with aerial views of New York City skyscrapers and “Empire State of Mind” by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z playing in the background. The opening scene features Carrie Bradshaw/Preston leaving her apartment in a casual white dress, reflective gold oversized sunglasses and a pair of gold sequin stilettos to match. Per the usual SATC style, Carrie narrates most of the story, starting with how she met Charlotte (Davis), Miranda (Nixon) and Samantha (Cattrall) in the 80’s and 90’s. Each character is shown in a brief flashback to illustrate how they looked back then. Carrie had two looks – the first with Converse (which have made a comeback) and a spiral perm, and the second as a Madonna do

I'll Be Back-New Terminator Film Moving Forward

I'll Be Back-New Terminator Film Moving Forward A new movie in the Terminator series, which last came to the screen in 2009's Terminator Salvation, may be one step closer to happening. According to Variety , the current owners of the rights to the franchise, a hedge fund called Pacificor LLC, announced today that it has hired the Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) to help sell the rights to a studio or production company. That's a smart move, since Pacificor has no prior experience making movies. The fund picked up the Terminator rights for $29.5 million in an auction last February after the previous owners, a company called Halcyon, went bankrupt. Pacificor had some post-auction talks with Sony and Lionsgate, who were also bidding for the rights, but nothing came of that. The now-defunct Halcyon itself bought the rights in 2007 for $30 million from original producer Mario Kassar, with financial help from Pacificor. The package include the rights

Thomas Dekker To Put On Dancing Shoes In Footloose?

Thomas Dekker To Put On Dancing Shoes In Footloose? With a short, but troubled history, it has seemed like the film has been cursed by the Movie Gods, angered at yet another remake sauntering across the cinematic dance floor. But Paramount is intent on getting its new version of Footloose in production, with former John Connor actor Thomas Dekker as the studio’s next likely candidate. The remake's development has been a carousel of changing directors and talent. Originally planned as a reunion for the High School Musical star/filmmaker team Zac Efron and Kenny Ortega , it was scuppered last year when Efron decided he wanted to stop working on so many musical projects and Ortega left claiming he was tired after making This Is It. Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford stepped in, but he also left when scheduling couldn’t be worked out. Currently, Hustle & Flow’s Craig Brewer is the man in charge, having tinkered with the script and gotten the movie in a position to shoot. De

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are In The Hands Of Michael Bay

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are In The Hands Of Michael Bay Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have brought Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form on to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , the live-action film that reboots the film series launched by New Line in 1990. Bay, Fuller and Form will produce with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. The producers will begin meetings with writers in the next few weeks. The deal puts Bay in the center of two Paramount franchises, as he started production May 17 on Transformers 3, and is zeroing in on Rosie Huntington-Whitely to replace Megan Fox as love interest for Shia LaBeouf. TMNT, a co-production between Paramount and Nickelodeon, is an outgrowth of the $60 million acquisition made by Nick last October for global rights to the entire Turtles franchise. Right around the same time, Paramount made a first look deal with the Platinum Dunes partners, who will generate genre projects but also want to ex
