BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Shrek & Puss in Boots Are Getting A Reboot

Variety is reporting “ Shrek ” and “ Puss in Boots ” are getting rebooted and Chris Meledandri , the man behind “ Despicable Me ,” is overseeing their revival. Universal Pictures has tasked Meledandri with finding some fresh story lines to reintroduce the lovable ogre and the sword-wielding feline to new generations of moviegoers. One thing the animation guru doesn’t want to mess with is with the vocal performances. Part of the popularity of “Shrek” is attributable to a voice cast that included Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas, and in a lengthy profile in Variety, Meledandri says he would like to get the band back together. “When you look back on those vocal performances they’re awesome, and while you certainly could make a case for a complete reinvention, I find myself responding to my own nostalgic feelings of wanting to go back to those characterizations,” explains Meledandri. “The challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not sim

DreamWorks Animation Hits Hard Times

How Bad Are The Financial Troubles? Story by David Clark Ever since movies like Toy Story invaded theaters around the nation animation films have been a staple of the entertainment industry. They are the type of films that an entire family can sit down and enjoy together. They are often funny, clever, well written, and offer a little something for everybody. Names like Pixar, DreamWorks Animation, and Illumination Entertainment have been at the forefront of the animated style. This past week it has become apparent that one of the staple studios named Dreamworks Animation has fallen on difficult financial times. Do not tell the children, but the studio that brought the world Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon might be a distant memory in the next few years. Due to a series of box office disappointments DreamWorks Animation announced a downsizing operation that will see at least 500 employees laid off from all levels of the company. It was also announced that the c

Hope Your Ready For Austin Powers 4. Cause It's On It's Way

Are you ready for another Austin Powers movie? I sure am not. Yeah the first two movies were funny but over played.   Mike Myers has had a pretty bad streak lately, Love Guru need I say more.   Shrek has been movie in the bank for him and small part in Quentin Tarantino's " Inglourious Basterds , now Hitfix is reporting that Mike Myers just closed his deal to return to the role. Yep. " Austin Powers 4 " is coming, officially. No word yet on who will be directing. I would hope Jay Roach returns as well, since I think a lot of the kick of the films is the '60s pop aesthetic, and Roach has been a big part of that since day one. There's also no word yet on a proposed storyline, but I will certainly start digging to see what I can come up with. Please Leave A Comment-

Eddie Murphy To Voice Hong Kong Phooey

Eddie Murphy , who's lent his distinctive voice to the character of Donkey in the four Shrek movies, is taking on another animated character, Hong Kong Phooey , in a film of the same name based on the Hanna-Barbera animated TV series from the ‘70s about a dog who becomes a kung fu crime fighter. The property revolves around a dog, Penry, to be played by Murphy, who is granted mystic powers, including the ability to walk, talk and do kung fu. Donning a costume to become Hong Kong Phooey, he sets out to combat criminals. Scatman Crothers provided the character’s voice in the TV series. Alex Zamm ( Tooth Fairy 2) is directing Alcon Entertainment’s big screen version of Hong Kong Phooey, which will combine live action with animation. Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce with Jay Stern and Brett Ratner. Steven P. Wegner will exec produce. Murphy,  also voiced the character of Mushu, the Dragon, in Dreamworks Animation’s Mulan. He’ll nex

Tom Hanks & Tim Allen On A Jungle Cruise Together

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen , who voice-starred together in Disney’s Toy Story movies, are teaming up for another Disney project, Jungle Cruise . Tom Hanks & Tim Allen To Go On A Jungle Cruise Together The two are attached to star in the live-action adaptation of the Disney theme park ride, being produced by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, riding high as part of the producing team behind The Fighter. Roger S. H. Schulman has been hired to write a new draft of the script for the long-in-development project. The story’s details are being kept under wraps, but Disney is planning Cruise as a big action-adventure movie with unique aspects that will make it more than just a straight-up adventure. Hanks is attached to play a family guy while Allen would play a tour boat captain. The moviemakers plan on having a script completed before going out to directors. Schulman, worked on Shrek and many of Disney’s straight-to-DVD slate including Mulan 2, Jungle Book 2 and

James Cameron To Produce Cirque du Soleil Film

To Be Shot In 3D Of Course Director Andrew Adamson has begun production on an enterprising family-oriented feature film that marries James Cameron's 3D wizardry with the precision and spectacle of Cirque du Soleil . Deadline reports the untitled film is a hybrid combining narrative storytelling with Cirque performances that are being captured in 3D from different themed Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. Those performances serve as the backdrop of a magical world where the film's lead character has been transported. The film is being financed primarily by Cirque du Soleil, and Cameron is serving as producer. Also producing are Reel FX Entertainment partners Cary Granat and Ed Jones, Cirque du Soleil, and Adamson's Strange Weather Films' partner Aron Warner. The intention is for this to launch a series of family features that incorporate Cirque du Soleil into their storylines. Adamson, who directed the first two installments of the Shrek and Chronicles of Narnia

Kung-Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, Madagascar Sequels On Their Way

Kung-Fu Panda,  How To Train Your Dragon, & Madagascar Tons Of Sequels Coming Empire sat down with DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg this week in London, and asked him about the future of the company. But I thought we'd particularly draw your attention to what he had to say about planned animation sequels to Kung-Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon and more. Namely, that we're looking at a total of four Madagascar films, six Pandas (which was already rumoured) and at least three Dragons . "What our movies and our franchises also share in common with Shrek is that they have a beginning, a middle and an end; they’re not open-ended. Each of the films is a chapter of a story and in every instance we knew what that journey was or could be before we even started. "So today I can tell you pretty succinctly where Madagascar goes. Ultimately they will come back to New York, and they will come to terms with that, which they will do in this next ch

Mike Myers To Voice Pepé Le Pew

Mike Myers To Voice Pepé Le Pew Mike Myers used to joke that donning the 80 pounds of faux-latex blubber to play Fat Bastard in Austin Powers caused him to sweat so much that "by the end of the day, I was Pepé Le Pew ." We have learned that Warner Bros. Pictures is now developing a live-action/CGI movie on the lovelorn French skunk and Myers is attached to voice the lead role. The decision to reinvigorate the Looney Tunes cast of characters — which includes fading American icons like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck , and Porky Pig — is a high priority for Warner Bros., for while they still throw off a billion dollars in licensing revenue annually, that’s barely a fifth of what Disney makes every year from licensing better-known characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck . Created in 1945, Pepé Le Pew starred in over a dozen animated short films for Warner Bros., and one of them, Chuck Jones’s For Scent-imental Reasons, even won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Subject (Ca

First Look At Puss In Boots

First Look At Puss In Boots To all those who thought we might use a different word for cat in the headline above, shame on you. Now, on with the story… While the big news this weekend has been about Pixar’s latest success, DreamWorks shoved the first image from Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots into the world, along with more details about the story and casting. The stand-alone Puss adventure will find the feisty feline (voiced as usual by Antonio Banderas ) taking on a mission to steal the famous, golden egg-laying goose of fairy tale fame. To complete the job, he teams up with Humpty Dumpty ( Zach Galifianakis , the most popular comedian-turned-actor of the moment, given how many jobs he’s got lined up), a criminal mastermind, and the savvy Kitty, voiced by Salma Hayek . Voice recording for this one has been underway for a few months now, with Banderas and Hayek apparently getting to share booth time occasionally so they can riff off one another. Should help with the catty chemi

Trollz Movie Is Going To Be A Reality

Trollz Movie Is Going To Be A Reality I am jumping out of my chair with joy, a Trollz movie is in the works.  I can't wait to have even more little annoying things to step on through out my house thanks Dreamworks. This bud is for you! Did any of you even watch the cartoon? Why oh Why am I reporting this? The Good Luck Trolls , with their frizzy, pastel-colored hair, are coming to the big screen via DreamWorks Animation. The Glendale-based animation house, which has already turned an ogre into the successful " Shrek " franchise, announced Tuesday that it has pacted with Denmark's Dam Things, which controls the toy line, to develop an animated feature. The brother-sister writing team of Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio will pen the screenplay, and Dannie Festa of Festa Entertainment, who brought the package to DreamWorks, will executive produce. The troll doll was created in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcutter Thomas Dam, when he carved a dol
