The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Comic-Con Recap

There's been a big presence at this year's Comic-Con for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , but the press conference today with director Marc Webb, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach and stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan was the first real word on what the film has to offer. "The universe that we conceived of began before we started shooting the first movie," said Webb of the over-arching story, "but the primary focus was executing this movie as best we could. This is operatic. There's a hugeness of scale to this movie. The ensemble is extraordinary, but it's cohesive and direct, and there's a simple unifying theme at the heart of the film that I think will be impactful. But it's fun teasing other characters, and if you pay attention to this movie you'll see what we're setting up what might come next." He also discussed the film's take on new bad guy Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. "There are a lot of incarnat

Walking Dead Season 4 Comic-Con Trailer

The team also talked a little bit about what we can expect next season. Even if it wasn’t the “full transparency” that they promised… Yes, it’s not like the people behind the show were going to spill every secret of Season Four, because they prefer shows that people actually watch. Yet they did their best to offer teases of what we can expect. “Things are getting worse,” says comic creator and show co-executive producer Robert Kirkman. “It’s an escalation, the people are getting worse…” Everyone look surprised! Freshly promoted show-runner Scott Gimple promised to deliver on ideas that stunned even him. “The things we did blew my mind,” he said of the new episodes. “It’s going to get insane.” So what have they learned amid all the zombie carnage? “We tweak things and collaborate,” says FX expert and producer/director Greg Nicotero. “There’s stuff we shot in the last two weeks that’s so much cooler than what we’ve done. We shot something 24 hours ago that is the coolest walker gag

Divergent Comic-Con Panel Recap

It's the very first footage anywhere from Divergent, and it's here! Based on the young adult novels set in a dystopian future, this has a similar feel to The Hunger Games in that a young woman finds herself becoming a key figure in a strange, dark future. The film takes place a hundred or more years from now (Burger and Roth differ on this, which may end up upsetting hardcore fans) in Chicago. There's been some sort of cataclysm and the city is walled - it holds only tens of thousands rather than millions. The world has been divided into factions dedicated to a particular virtue: Dauntless (Bravery), Abnegation (Selflessness), Candour (Honesty), Erudite (Intelligence) and Peacefulness / Kindness. Tris grows up in the Abnegation faction and feels stifled; she feels drawn to Dauntless but that means leaving her family behind forever. Author Veronica Roth, director Neil Burger, Theo James (who plays Four), and Shailene Woodley, who plays Tris led the panel. They were joi

Jessica Chastain Has A Most Violent Year

Director J.C. Chandor already has a great male lead for his next film, A Most Violent Year . He’s following that up with a superb choice as female lead, with Jessica Chastain in negotiations. We’d really like to bring you some details of the plot here, but sadly those are still being kept in a lockbox at the bottom of the ocean. Or, you know, safely on Chandor’s computer. The writer/director is currently waiting to unleash his latest, the Robert Redford seagoing drama All Is Lost upon the world, after a successful launch at Cannes. It’ll dock here on December 13. A Most Violent Year, meanwhile, should be shooting later this year but doesn’t have a set release date yet. Chastain is, as ever, in demand. Last seen in Mama, she has The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby His & Hers and Miss Julie already shot and will be seen in both Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak. There’s a new mystery for Dan Brown’s symbology professor Robert Langdon to investigate. Two, actually – one will likely be seen on the big screen, as Da Vinci Code/Angels & Demons duo Tom Hanks and Ron Howard have announced plans to film Brown’s latest tome, Inferno . This outing finds Langdon in Italy, grappling with a chilling puzzle revolving around Dante’s Inferno. He’ll face a new and cunning adversary and an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Can he solve the problem before the world is forever changed? Given his track record, we’re going to guess he has a good shot. The book arrived in May and is now in development at Sony, but Deadline could find no word on a writer. The other mystery will be whatever happened to The Lost Symbol , Brown’s third Langdon adventure and one that has been bubbling away in development itself since 2011. Ron Howard seemed unwilling to revisit the series, and ste
