David Slade To Direct Demeter

The Last Voyage of the Demeter may be getting ready to finally set sail. David Slade , who directed vampires in 30 Days of Night and Twilight Saga: Eclipse , is in talks to tackle the blood-sucking genre again with Phoenix Pictures' long-in-the-works period horror movie. The lead role is not cast but Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Phoenix is in active talks with actors for the lead role. Producing Demeter are Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer and Bradley Fischer, who have made habit of incubating and sticking with projects for lengthy periods. (Phoenix took almost as long to get Oscar best picture contender Black Swan made.) Demeter was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker's classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. Written a decade ago by Bragi Schut, the script places the voyage center stage in a tale that is remini

Universal Looking To Reboot Terminator Franchise

Shortly after Arnold Schwarzenegger left the Governor’s Mansion and Tweeted his desire to resume his acting career, there seems to finally be some action on his signature franchise, The Terminator . I’m told that interest is kicking back up. One interested party: Universal , which is looking for a directing vehicle for Justin Lin . He helmed the last three installments of The Fast and the Furious franchise , including the latest Fast Five , which Universal releases April 29. I’ve heard that the plan would be to possibly pair him with Chris Morgan, who aside from Fast Five has credits on big scale Universal films that include the upcoming Keanu Reeves actioner 47 Ronin and Wanted . Now I enjoyed the Fast and Furious films for what they were, but Lin helming a Terminator film doesn't give me much faith in the movie. Here is what I am hearing the film might be based off of: The film would  take place in a post-apocalyptic battleground, and factors in an element of time travel

Adam Sandler Beats Justin Bieber At The Box Office

Final numbers show Sony’s Adam Sandler - Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy Just Go With It winning the weekend box office crown after maintaining a narrow lead over Paramount’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Just Go With It looks to have grossed $30.5 million, while Never Say Never took in roughly $29.5 million. Sunday’s estimates had Just Go With It and Never Say Never separated by only $700,000, or $31 million vs. $30.3 million, respectively. Either way, Never Say Never—fueled by young girls--far outpaced expectations in its debut, one of the top ever for a documentary. Including revenue from advance screenings on Feb. 9, film’s cume is north of $30 million. Never Say Never, directed by Jon M. Chu, is more of a biopic than a concert film. Females made up 84 percent of the audience, while 67% of the audience was under the age of 25. Paramount said moms reacted well to the film, which drew an A- CinemaScore. The big question now is what kind of legs Never Say Never wil
