Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight Cast Announced

While he clearly hasn’t snagged a huge role, he is now confirmed for the cast alongside fellow QT newbie Demian Bichir . Set a few years after the ragged end of the Civil War, the film finds a stagecoach waylaid in wintry Wyoming wilderness and the passengers forced to seek shelter at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stopover on a mountain pass. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive Daisy Domergue are trying to reach the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the way, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren, a black former Union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix, a Southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Arriving at Minnie’s, they’re greeted not by the owner, but by Bob, who’s taking care of the place while Minnie’s visiti

Quentin Tarantino To Direct Another Western

If you were wondering what Quentin Tarantino might do for his next trick following Django Unchained , you can stop all that pondering. The writer-director went on the Jay Leno show last night to pimp the graphic novel of Django and – as related by The Hollywood Reporter – announced what he’s working on. "I haven't told anyone this publicly, but I will say the genre: It's a western," Tarantino said,” though he followed that up by saying it wouldn’t be a sequel to Django . "I had so much fun doing Django, and I love westerns so much that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I'm doing.'” Of course, QT being QT, he didn’t elaborate any further, so we don’t know where the film will be set or what will actually happen in it, but it’s fun to speculate what his next, properly, bullet-strewn outing will be. And if you were hoping for more Kill Bill? We’re sorry, but it appears you’re goin

Tarantino Talks Killer Crow

With his latest, slave-turned-bounty hunter vengeance quest Django Unchained , in American cinemas over Christmas, Quentin Tarantino has naturally been busy on the promotional trail. Talking about the film, he’s revealed that his previous release, Inglourious Basterds , may spawn what could become the third part of a trilogy featuring some unused script material. Tarantino has talked in the past about having lots of material leftover when he converted the long-gestating passion project between a briefly planned miniseries version into the cinematic incarnation that finally reached cinemas. Now he says he’s considering a third revisionist history film to stand alongside Django and the Basterds , this time spotlighting characters originally intended to feature in stories running alongside those of Brad Pitt’s Lt. Aldo Raines and his squad. "My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this would be a huge story that included the smaller story that you s

Quentin Tarantino On Luke Cage Film. What Could Have Been

In a parallel universe, Quentin Tarantino directed a Luke Cage comic book movie, with Laurence Fishburne as the titular Hero For Hire and the film coming out at around the same Pulp Fiction did in our version of reality. Alas - or, rather, fortunately - in reality he made his narrative-bending masterpiece instead, but there was a time where QT was definitely considering it, as he revealed to MTV.com  in this video (which, annoyingly, only US residents will be able to see). If you're from somewhere else in the world, here's a transcript of what the Django Unchained director had to say about the might-have-been Marvel adaptation: "After Reservoir Dogs , I had considered doing a Luke Cage, Hero For Hire movie. [Producer] Ed Pressman owned the rights at that time, and we talked about it. I talked to Larry Fish [ Laurence Fishburne ] about being Luke Cage, and he really liked that idea. Then I ended up writing Pulp Fiction. " Any chance he'd go back to th

DJANGO UNCHAINED Review. Early Present From Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino Cameo In Django Unchained

Rex Linn is best known for appearing in CSI: Miami (as Detective Frank Tripp), The Walking Dead (as Palmer) and Cliffhanger (as Agent "Goddamn" Travers) but his biggest recent movie role so far is in Quentin Tarantino 's upcoming spaghetti Western, Django Unchained – but it turns out the director has taken some of his lines for his own unplanned cameo. “Quentin told me that he liked the scene so much he wanted to be in it, too, and that he would also be taking some of my lines,” Linn explained to Oklahoma news site NewsOK.com “So, you'll know the scenes when you see them. We'll be on the screen with Don Johnson and Jonah Hill . The scenes may not be long, but you will remember them.” Precise plot details around Django are few and far between, and even at this point, Linn's role as Tennessee Harry is unclear. The general plot goes like this, however... Jamie Foxx stars as Django , a slave who is rescued from a chain gang by German bounty hunte

Django Unchained Comic-Con Recap

Despite his huge fan appeal, Quentin Tarantino has not graced the massive Hall H at Comic-Con before. But that changed today when the man known as QT brought some of his latest creation, Django Unchained , to the event Saturday morning. Arriving on stage at a thronged Hall H, Tarantino had rounded up Jamie Foxx (dressed for the occasion in hat and beard), Walton Goggins, Don Johnson, Christoph Waltz and Kerry Washington . Thanking fans for standing in line for so long, the director began by explaining that he’d had the film in his noggin for 13 years and had long wanted to do a Western. Foxx took the opportunity to address the movie’s more controversial racism / slavery aspects, saying, “We're grown up. We're big boys and big girls now. But you expect Quentin to blow the walls off it.” He also pointed to his own history, having grown up in Texas and being called the N word – explaining that it helped his understanding of the script, with the project having special rele

Eli Roth & Russell Crowe Attached To Harker?

Eli Roth is hot again. I’ve just learned that the creator of the Hostel franchise (whose last installment bombed), director, producer, and occasional actor (Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds) is in talks to go back behind the camera for a Warner Bros project in development to star Russell Crowe . That’s right, Crowe is now attached. But not to play the role of Harke r in the spec script by Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy that’s a reimagining of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Instead, I’ve learned that Crowe is attached to play Dracula who is tracked by Jonathan Harker, a Scotland Yard detective. Hmm, Crowe as Dracula: cool, huh? Crowe is only on board for the first film, but the script sets up the sleuth as a potential new franchise character. Harker is as yet uncast — and boy, is that a juicy role for a leading man. “Once they figure out the story then they’ll figure out who’s right to play him,” a source says. Crowe and Roth worked together on the upcoming RZA-directed actioner, Th

Images From Django Unchained

EW got their hands on 2 images from Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming revenge western Django Unchained . The bond Jamie Foxx wants to break this time around is not a bad romance, but something far uglier and more painful: his slave status in the pre-Civil War South, which is the obstacle preventing him from going in search of his sold-off wife, played by Kerry Washington . The film is in  theaters on Dec. 25, and we also talk with Foxx about this southern-fried take on the spaghetti western. Does he think Django Unchained will be controversial? “Oh, hell yeah,” Foxx says. “You kidding me?” The Oscar winner describes his character as Shaft’s “Richard Roundtree meets Clint Eastwood.” After being sent to a chain gang after rebelling against his owners, Django is recruited by a German bounty hunter (Inglorious Basterd’s Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, below, with Foxx) to help him settle an old score. Django has information that Waltz’s Dr. King Schultz needs, so the German mercenary
