"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four"

"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four" Dianna Agron, one of the stars of red-hot Fox series “Glee,” has nabbed the female romantic lead in “I Am Number Four,” DreamWorks’ adaptation of the upcoming young-adult science-fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. “Four” revolves around a group of nine aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character, to be played by British actor Alex Pettyfer, disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he’s still being hunted by his planet’s enemy. Agron will play a girl dating a high school jock who falls for Number Four and becomes his confidante. “Four” will be Agron’s big-studio debut. The role in the high-pedigree movie — Michael Bay is producing with Steven Spielberg, and D.J. Caruso is directing — was highly sought-after, and the studio went through several rounds of tests to find the right candidat

Sam Rockwell Joins Cast Of "Cowboys and Aliens"

Sam Rockwell Joins Cast Of  "Cowboys and Aliens" Sam Rockwell is reteaming with Jon Favreau for another comic book adaptation, DreamWorks' "Cowboys and Aliens." Rockwell, who portrays arms manufacturer Justin Hammer in the Favreau-directed "Iron Man 2," has joined the cast of "Cowboys," the alien invasion-meets-the Wild West project that Favreau begins shooting in June. Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford are already cast in the tale, based on a Platinum Studios graphic novel, of cowboys and Indians rising up against aliens. Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens. Once Favreau and the writers -- Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof -- learned that Rockwell was interested in the movie, they reconceived and expanded the role, which initially called for a heavy-set man. Spielberg To Ride The "War Horse"

Spielberg To Ride The "War Horse" Steven Spielberg has selected his next directing job: World War I epic " War Horse ." Disney and DreamWorks will release the film Aug. 10, 2011. "War Horse" is based on Michael Morpurgo's novel of the same name, as well as a stage adaptation. Spielberg is producing with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Revel Guest. Scribes Lee Hall and Richard Curtis are penning the adapted script. Set against the sweeping backdrop of the Great War, storyline charts the extraordinary friendship between a boy and a horse who are separated but whose fates continue to intertwine over the course of WWI. The Great War was a natural topic for Spielberg to take on. He's already explored World War II in a number of projects, including directing "Saving Private Ryan." He exec produced HBO's "Band of Brothers," and more recently, the pay cabler's "The Pacific." Spielberg and DreamWorks co-

HBO's "The Pacific" Scores Decent With The Ratings

HBO's "The Pacific" Scores Decent With The Ratings HBO's "The Pacific" got off to a fair start on Sunday evening, delivering 3.1 million viewers. That's 22% higher than the debut of HBO's last miniseries, "John Adams," and "The Pacific" tally grew to 4 million with its encore airing. Still, HBO has to be somewhat disappointed with this number. "The Pacific" is the biggest production in the network's history and this is only 69% higher than the time period norm. The miniseries' predecessor, 2001's "Band of Brothers," debuted to 10 million viewers (Nielsen has since changed the way pay cable networks are calculated, however, and these are no longer apples-to-apples comparisons). Even with its larger premiere number, "Brothers" was considered a slow-starter whose success was secured in heavy repeat viewing and DVD sales. "The Pacific" could easily gather steam too, especially with c

Zachary Quinto To Play George Gershwin For Spielberg

Zachary Quinto To Play George Gershwin For Spielberg Since he dropped out of Harvey, Steven Spielberg’s first project under the reconstituted DreamWorks has been a subject of much speculation. Now I hear who's at the center of the director's biopic of George Gershwin, which DreamWorks acquired last fall. It’s Zachary Quinto -- Sylar in the NBC drama-fantasy Heroes, and Spock in the JJ Abrams-directed megapic Star Trek. Quinto will play the famed composer and pianist, who with brother Ira was responsible for more than a dozen Broadway shows before dying at 38. DreamWorks is even supplying accent and dialogue coaches for Quinto, and shooting could begin as soon as April. Doug Wright wrote the script, and Marc Platt and singer/pianist Michael Feinstein are producing. A DreamWorks insider says this is one of 3 projects Spielberg is looking at for his next piccause he's anxious to get back to work. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an announcement later this week. Daniel Craig To Star In Cowboys and Aliens

Daniel Craig To Star In Cowboys and Aliens As we wrote before that Dainel Craig may star in the upcoming film. It has been confirmed he will star in the movie. Daniel Craig has closed his deal to star in Cowboys and Aliens for DreamWorks and Universal, as I predicted. Craig will star in an adaptation of Fred Van Lente's graphic novel that was published by Platinum Studios and revolves around cowboys and Native Americans who put aside their Old West differences to battle invading aliens. Craig will play the lead cowboy Zeke Jackson, replacing Robert Downey Jr who exited to jump right back to the Sherlock Holmes sequel. While he likely won't identify himself as "Jackson, Zeke Jackson," Craig has put himself in an enviable position: Cowboys and Aliens has franchise potential. And it will keep him busy while the James Bond/MGM situation plays out. Brian Grazer is producing with Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and Platinum Studios' Scott

The Lovely Bones Movie Review By:Windy

The Lovely Bones Movie Review By:Windy Windy has been a busy girl this week. I don't know when she finds the time to write reviews for my site and work on her own . We are so glad she is a part of the SandwichJohnFilms team. “The Lovely Bones”, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Alice Sebold and directed by Peter Jackson, is the story about a family dealing with the crisis of their murdered 14-year old daughter, Susie Salmon, and her father’s hunt for her killer. Most of the story is told from Susie’s point of view after her murder, as she watches her family struggle to cope with her loss and search for her killer. She is stuck in what her younger brother refers to as “the in-between” – a place between Earth and heaven – because she refuses to let go of her family or her killer. Susie, played by Saoirse Ronan (“Atonement”) gives a moving portrayal of a spirit running a gamut of emotions, starting with confusion, moving to fear, and ultimately release.

Daniel Craig In Negotiation To Star In "Cowboys and Aliens"

Daniel Craig In Negotiation To Star In "Cowboys and Aliens" DreamWorks and Jon Favreau are in talks with Daniel Craig to play the lead role in "Cowboys and Aliens" after Robert Downey Jr. ankled the project. Craig has been offered the role of Jake Johnson in the pic, based on the 2006 graphic novel about a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers who resolve to patch up their differences when an alien spaceship crash-lands in their city. Reps for Craig said it was too early to comment on whether the actor would board "Cowboys and Aliens," which Favreau is directing. Project is written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. While it is still early days and Craig has not officially accepted the role, the thesp does have a long-standing relationship with DreamWorks, having appeared in "Munich" and "Road to Perdition." Jackman will play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter who finds a discarded robot that always seems to win. He also discovers he has a 11-year-old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top. Although grounded in the father-son relationship, Levy describes the film as a "rousing sports movie" with Jackman's character "a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he's good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace."
