The image on this new poster for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar may look a little familiar from our last story, but The Dark Knight director liked the image he selected for Empire so much that he has also made it the official US one-sheet for the film. As ever with this particular director, he's not giving much away. We can tell, from that strange folded-over landscape, that Matthew McConaughey's Cooper ain't in Kansas anymore, as we glimpsed in the trailer. But beyond that the film is keeping its secrets close. What we do know is that Cooper and his team are sent from a dying Earth to find a new home for humanity, and we're guessing this is one of the possibilities they inspect. Christopher Nolan made a surprise appearance at the Paramount Comic-Con panel this past weekend, introduced by his Interstellar star Matthew McConaughey . He didn’t reveal much about the movie to absolutely no one’s surprise, but he did show off the new trailer for the film, footage that has now arrived online courtesy of the film’s sparkly official site. McConaughey’s Cooper is a trained pilot, technician and engineer, but there’s not much call for those in a world where the basics are in such short supply. Christopher Nolan's latest secrecy-fest, sci-fi Interstellar , has just become a tiny bit less obscure with the debut of the film's first full trailer. At the very least, we learn more about Matthew McConaughey's lead, Cooper, and then we get to tour some extensive cornfields. Cooper is, we learn, "an educated man, a trained pilot and an engineer", but his technical skills are more or less irrelevant in a world that's running low on food. Thank goodness, then, for Michael Caine's visionary, who has a plan to save the world by buggering off somewhere else - and he needs Cooper to make the trip. With two young children at home, it's not an easy decision, but soon Cooper's off amid the stars as the weather worsens back home. At least, we think that's what's happening, so please stop making jokes about Signs and comparing it to Looper. Wally Pfister’s old mucker Christopher Nolan released a teaser for his new sci-fi last week and now it’s the turn of the protégé to step up to the mic. The DP-turned-director is taking a similarly elliptical route to promoting his movie debut, Transcendence , taking a leaf out his Nolan’s book to show a little ankle but not a lot else. From these two new trailers, though, you should get a flavour of what to expect: something cerebral, sweeping and just a little sinister. The first is narrated by Morgan Freeman – yes, Professor Voiceover himself – and the second by its protagonist Johnny Depp . Depp stars as Will, a computer scientist deep into researching the singularity – the point at which artificial intelligence overtakes human and the two begin to merge. From the sounds of the film, that last part is taken literally here, as an incident forces Depp to upload his personality into the mainframe after anti-technology activists attack him. The Playlist has learned that Matt Damon has joined Christopher Nolan’s “ Interstellar ” in a small, undisclosed role. The character, like all of the roles in the film, is being kept under wraps, but sources close to the actor tell us he’ll only be shooting on the project for two weeks in Iceland (for comparison sake, the entire shoot is scheduled for four months). It's another quick appearance for Damon in a forthcoming film, as he also has a small cameo in Terry Gilliam’s “The Zero Theorem,” which debuts at the Venice Film Festival very soon (look for our review in the upcoming days). Man Of Steel Review By: MattInRC The epic and beautiful Man of Steel returns Superman to the big screen and settles a long-standing debate. If you've a fan of the online series Honest Trailers , you know their finest effort ( The Avengers ) laughingly tells audiences that as a result of Marvel's command of the box office, competitor DC has been placed on ' suicide watch .' Who could blame them: after a commercially successful but disappointing Dark Knight Rises and still stinging from the awful Green Lantern , the studio that first brought comic book heroes into the modern era seemed adrift and down for the count. Luckily the release of Man of Steel proves DC still has some fight in them, producing a beautifully-shot and thoroughly-enjoyable effort, even if some character development is lacking.
