Charlie Hunnam To Star In A Prayer Before Dawn

We know Charlie Hunnam can look after himself in an on-screen rumble: TV’s Sons Of Anarchy and Pacific Rim proved that. Now he’s going to get his chance to show off some Thai boxing skills in true-life tale A Prayer Before Dawn . Jean-Stephane Sauvaire is directing the film. It's drawn from the story of Billy Moore, who ended up incarcerated in the brutal Thai prison Klong Prem, known as the notorious Bangkok Hilton. There, mostly to survive, he began learning the skills of Muay Thai boxing. Nick Saltese adapted Moore’s book for Wild Bunch and Hurricane Films. Hunnam is already training in the fighting discipline, and he’ll need to seriously shape up in the discipline, because Sauvaire is recruiting former prisoners and Muay Thai champions for the cast. “A Prayer Before Dawn is – at one and the same time – a true story, a prison drama, a survival movie, a desperate love story and an extraordinary tale of redemption,” Sauvaire tells Screen International. “Above all, it i

Dan Stevens, Charlie Hunnam & Jon Bernthal In The Running To Play Snake Plissken

The idea to reboot John Carpenter’s action classic Escape From New York has been rumored one moment and then shoved back into the realm of myth the next for years now. But Starlog is reporting that Joel Silver’s production company is pushing ahead to make it happen, with a rumored casting wish list for the new Snake Plissken that includes Dan Stevens, Charlie Hunnam and Jon Bernthal . This remake has been strolling around the development compound for ages now, snarling at the gatekeepers and crushing cigarette butts beneath its booted feet. Silver, out stumping for Non-Stop earlier this year, likened some of the thinking on the current version to DC video game Arkham City, exploring how Manhattan became the prison we see in Carpenter’s 1981 movie. The idea right now is to feed elements of Snake’s background and the history of New York’s current state into the character via brief glimpses of Snake’s PTSD. According to Starlog’s sources – which must still be treated as unoffi

Charlie Hunnam Out Of Fifty Shades Of Grey Film

Christian Grey no more! Universal Pictures and Focus Features have announced that Charlie Hunnam will be replaced in the highly anticipated film adaption of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey due to his busy schedule. "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," the studios said in a joint statement on Saturday, Oct. 12. After a tireless search, Hunnam, 33, was finally confirmed on Sept. 2 to take on the lead role of Grey alongside actress Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. "So... Christian…" James teased via Twitter at the time. "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey." And now? "I wish Charlie all the best. x," the author of the three book series wrote just moments after the shoc

Tom Hiddleston To Star In Crimson Peak

Tom Hiddleston is replacing Benedict Cumberbatch in Crimson Peak , a gothic film to be directed by Guillermo del Toro . The thriller, which will also feature Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam , has set a start date of January 2014 to begin shooting. Legendary, which covered 75 percent of the budget for del Toro's Pacific Rim , will produce and provide financing, while Universal Pictures will have the option to come on board as a finance partner at a later date. Cumberbatch exited Crimson Peak in late August. There wasn't a reason given for the departure at the time, although sources told THR that it wasn't due to a conflict with another project. Hiddleston, who played Loki in The Avengers, is set to appear in November's Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World. The actor was also cast in Muppets Most Wanted, which has set a March 2014 release date. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Charlie Hunnam Is Christian Grey

The "Sons of Anarchy" actor joins Dakota Johnson in the highly anticipated adaptation of EL James' novel. Moments after announcing Dakota Johnson as the lead actress in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, author EL James dropped another casting bombshell: Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Grey . "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," she wrote. Hunnam currently stars as a series regular on the hit FX biker drama, which returns for its sixth season on Sept. 10. His film credits include Pacific Rim, Children of Men, Cold Mountain, Nicholas Nickelby and Green Street Hooligans. Fifty Shades of Grey will be released by Focus Features on Aug. 1, 2014, in North America. Benedict Cumberbatch Exists Crimson Peak

Benedict Cumberbatch has exited Crimson Peak, the Legendary horror movie being directed by Guillermo del Toro . No reason for his departure was given, although sources say his exit is not due to another project. Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska remain on board to star in the four-hander gothic horror story that centers on a woman who discovers that her husband might not be who he appears to be. Peak is scheduled to shoot in January, and the exit at this early stage gives del Toro plenty of time to find a replacement. The filmmaker has already shown he can roll with the punches when he quickly cast Wasikowska after Emma Stone fell off the movie. Cumberbatch is entering a busy period where many of his completed films will hit screens. Dreamworks’ The Fifth Estate kicks off the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Fox Searchlight’s 12 Years a Slave opens on Oct. 18, while the all-star August: Osage County opens Dec. 25. He is also voicing the

Pacific Rim Review. Pleasant Surprise

Pacific Rim Review By: Nicolas Souza Big Action, Bigger Robots Please welcome guest review Nicolas Souza. Nicolas will be reviewing movie from time to time. Giant monsters, huge robots, and a decent story holding it all together; this is the easiest way to explain Pacific Rim . This summer action blockbuster wonderfully delivers all of that, but doesn’t blow you away. Fans of giant monsters and robots will not leave the theater disappointed. The action scenes between the two are fantastic. On par with the action in other giant robot movies like Transformers, I believe Pacific Rim is slightly better. This is due to the limit of monsters on screen at once. With only a few monsters or robots fighting at once, there is no need to cut from fight to fight. This gives more time to the wonderfully designed Jaegers, German for hunter, and Kaiju, giant monsters. Director Guillermo del Torro (Pan’s Labyrinth) assembles a human cast that fills its role nicely for a movie that’s main st

Pacific Rim Review. Add It To Your Summer Movie To-Do List.

Pacific Rim Review By: MattInRC The monster/robot flick Pacific Rim is way too much fun for you to notice all the plot holes. Among the film genres of my youth, Kaiju was not one of them. Sure, I liked the idea of giant monsters attacking cities - and even some such as the 1954 Godzilla - had almost believable plots. But I always found them predictable: you can only smash so many buildings and endure so much poor voice dubbing before they turned into a joke. With Kaiju films, it's always been two steps back ( Roland Emmerich's Gozilla remake ), one step forward ( JJ Abrams' Cloverfield ); what the genre needed was a big Hollywood budget AND a great script to get people re-energized about the genre. Pacific Rim does at least part of that really well by adding human-controlled robots into the mix. And while there are plot holes a mile wide and a predictable ending to boot, the film is tons of fun. You'll find yourself willing to forgo these issues in favor of w

New Trailer For Pacific Rim

Here is the newest trailer for Pacific Rim . But we mortal men and women prove to be made of stronger stuff, and begin constructing huge robots called Jaegers to fight the new menace. Among the brave souls hitching their nervous systems to the controls are Charlie Hunnam ’s Raleigh Becket and Rinko Kikuchi’ s Mako Mori, who must bring battle-damaged ‘bot Gypsy Danger to life in a desperate struggle for the future of mankind. With Idris Elba barking line-of-the-year contender “Today we are CANCELLING THE APOCALYPSE!” and the likes of Ron Perlman (of course), Charlie Day and Clifton Collins Jr among the cast, Pacific Rim lands on July 12. Pacific Rim Extended Trailer Has Landed

Never let it be said that Guillermo del Toro – and his backers at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures – don’t listen to demands. Though the director announced at WonderCon that the Pacific Rim footage shown there would only be screened once more before release (at CinemaCon), he has heard the cries of the many and now the extended trailer is online for everyone to enjoy. The trailer lets Dr. Newton Geiszler (played in the film by Charlie Day ) explain a little more about the motives of the monstrous Kaiju – to whit, they first made landfall in San Francisco and began their attacks on population centres so as to take out the “vermin” (or "the human race" as we prefer to be called). Admittedly, given their actions, it's not exactly the most original theory, though Geiszler seems to think we should try to understand them. “Or we could just blow ‘em to pieces,” counters Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket ( Charlie Hunnam ). Guess which idea gets more play here? Yes, del Tor

New Pacific Rim Trailer

Though it’s easy to get jaded when trailers seem to be carbon copies of each other, as if no more thought has gone into the marketing than to drag out the best bits of what has gone before, we’re actually rather pleased with this new Pacific Rim promo, which you can watch below. Not only does it let us enjoy some of the highlights of the previous trail (which you can watch for comparison below), it actually brings some new footage from Guillermo del Toro’s huge monster mash. Working from a script by Travis Beacham, the director has concocted a tale of giant creatures known as Kaiju surging from another dimension into our own via a mysterious portal. Making landfall in coastal cities around the world, they precede to lay waste to huge chunks of architecture and more than a few puny humans. But we mortal men and women prove to be made of stronger stuff, and begin constructing huge robots called Jaegers to fight the new menace. Among the brave souls hitching their nervous system

PACIFIC RIM Trailer. Kaiju vs Robots

Looks like this week is trailer week. Here is the trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM . When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes–a washed up former pilot ( Charlie Hunnam ) and an untested trainee ( Rinko Kikuchi )–who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse. PACIFIC RIM opens July 12th, 2013 Please Leave A Comment-

Pacific Rim Goes Viral

If giant monsters come raging out of the ocean and start attacking, are you prepared? ARE YOU? Don’t lie. Lies make the baby Mothra cry. But if you want to be prepared for the huge creatures known as Kaiju, you’ll want to monitor the site set up by the Pan Pacific Defense Corps , as featured in Guillermo del Toro’s massive monster mash Pacific Rim . Yes, the viral (though hardly stealthy, since everyone knows what it’s for) campaign has kicked off in earnest with the site featuring a countdown to... something (possibly the trailer) and a couple of video releases. The big one is above, with a faux news report about a monstrous attack on San Francisco that gives the world at large its first tiny glimpse of the monsters. The poor old Golden Gate Bridge really can’t catch a break when it comes to being broken on screen, can it? Pacific Rim posits a story in which these Kaiju begin attacking the world’s coastal cities and elsewhere in 2013, a steady barrage of attacks that threatens t

Pacific Rim Gets 3D Conversion Against Directors Choice

While its action-heavy giant robots-battle-massive-monsters scale might have seemed perfect for 3D (despite the drawbacks of the format), Guillermo del Toro has been on record as preferring not to give Pacific Rim the stereographic treatment. Well, it would appear that Warners has other ideas and is already post-converting the movie. The film was shot in 2D and will have to go through the usual process, which, with del Toro overseeing things, should hopefully not end up in a Clash Of The Titans murk-fest situation. The release date is currently still set for next July, so that should leave enough time to do a proper job. Pacific Rim finds Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day as the humans engaged in a battle against invading alien beasties. They’re called upon to pilot a huge human defence ‘bot – a Jaeger- to stop the marauding nasties from wiping us all out. Del Toro showed a small fragment of the movie off to impressive effect at this year’s Comic-Con, but we’ll have
