First Image Of Tom Cruise In Jack Reacher Never Go Back

You might expect the first new image of Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher from Never Go Back , the sequel to the eponymous 2012 film to show the man in question back in action, brawling or chasing someone. Instead, in one of the images released by People, he's doing a bit of moody balcony posing in New Orleans alongside Cobie Smulders . See more images after the Jump... Never Go Back, adapted from Lee Child's 18th Reacher novel, which finds the tough vigilante returning to his old army headquarters, only to discover that he's been accused of a murder that went down 16 years ago. The reason he breaks the advice about not returning? He's there to help an Army Major (Smulders) who is accused of spying. And from the looks of the image below, Reacher doesn't exactly endear himself to the locals. No real shock there, then. As you might imagine from a Tom Cruise film – directed this time by his The Last Samurai collaborator Edward Zwick – the man himself was ready and

Patrick Heusinger Cast As The Villain In Jack Reacher 2

According to Variety after his break-out role in Bravo’s “ Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce ,” Patrick Heusinger is now in talks to join Tom Cruise in Paramount and Skydance’s sequel to “ Jack Reacher ” as the villain. Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge and Danika Yarosh are also on board to join the cast with Ed Zwick directing. Zwick and and Marshall Herskovitz wrote the most recent draft of the script after Richard Wenk penned the original draft. Paramount grossed $218 million worldwide from 2012’s “Jack Reacher,” directed by Christopher McQuarrie from his own script based on the Lee Child series of novels. The sequel will be based on Child’s “Never Go Back,” in which Reacher travels from South Dakota to the Virginia headquarters of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps and finds that his new commanding officer has been arrested. Details surrounding Hodge’s role are under wraps at this time, other than the character being described as “the hunter.” Cruise and Don Granger are pro

#StraightOuttaCompton Opens Huge

Universal revised its opening figure up as the musical biopic grabbed a big slice of the audience. Turns out that Straight Outta Compton did even better at the North American box office this weekend than Universal originally estimated. While the studio predicted a weekend box office of $56.1 million on Sunday morning, on Monday it revised that number to a whopping $60.2 million. The film opened to $24.1 million on Friday, including its Thursday night screenings; it corralled $19.3 million on Saturday and took in an extra $16.8 million on Sunday. The film now stands as the fifth best August opening ever, narrowly surpassing M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs, which opened to $60.1 million in 2002. Universal’s R-rated Compton, the biopic about the groundbreaking hip-hop group N.W.A, produced for just $29 million, posted a best-ever opening for its director F. Gary Gray. It also overshadowed other rap movies like Eminem’s 8 Mile, which bowed to $51.2 million in 2002 and Notorious, the
