The world may have given up on David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman series, but that doesn't mean he's done with it. He still thinks a Wonder Woman show could work—and he's figured out what went wrong with his first try. Yeah, The CW might be developing its own Wonder Woman-esque series with Amazon, but Kelley (The Practice, Boston Legal) technically tried it first. The TV legend filmed a pilot starring Adrianne Palicki (Red Dawn, Friday Night Lights) in the title role, but it was universally panned and never even made it to air. Leaked photos showing the pretty ridiculous costume didn't help, so NBC axed the show after checking out the pilot. Therein lies the rub. Kelley blames a condensed schedule for all the problems, as he didn't have enough time to develop his concept in the pilot stage. Red Dawn is a remake that vacillates between gritty war feature and bubble-gum drama, doing neither particularly well. In the genre of war movies, there are generally two kinds that Hollywood produces: ones that display the heavy trauma associated with war; and the mindless, unrealistic action flick that insults our intelligence with its implausibility. Both have their detractors - who can watch Saving Private Ryan more than once per year without wanting to slash their wrists for displaying war in such a graphic manner? In the latter category, the action is so unbelievable - whether it be people surviving a massive explosion or somehow beating someone twice their size - that you never really feel for the characters when they experience difficulty, thus losing any buy-in and therefore interest. Remember that G.I. Joe sequel that was supposed to come out seemingly forever ago? Well, it's back and we've got the latest trailer just for you. Let's find out what's changed about the delayed film together, shall we? The official answer as to why Joe went from a 2012 summer release to the far-less-exciting March of 2013 is "increased 3D effects." Okay, yes, we can see how 3D is a good thing. Explosions, ninjas, Bruce Willis... all of the above could be made better if they're flying off the screen, but is that really all this is about? Considering Channing Tatum (who was supposed to be killed off for the sequel) appears right at the start of the trailer, we're gonna go ahead and say that his huge increase in popularity after 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike had a lot to do with the release date change. It may be hard to believe, but after a few years sitting on the shelf, it's finally (almost) here. The Red Dawn reboot opens Nov. 21—and a new trailer shows off the crazy invasion action that's coming soon. Starring a who's who of eventual stars ( Chris Hemsworth, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson ), the remake finds the U.S. occupied by a foreign army. Our only hope? A ragtag group of teens and 20-somethings out to cause as much trouble as possible. The film was finished before Hemsworth became a household name (among comic fans, anyway) for his role as Thor, and his star power should carry the remake of the 1980s classic to at least a solid opening. A new trailer has been released setting up the premise, including a few snippets of new action footage. A year after NBC rejected David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman , the CW is prepping its own take on the DC Comics super hero. Grey's Anatomy's Allan Heinberg is attached to write Amazon (working title), an origin story about Wonder Woman's alter ego Diana of Themyscira, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. As first reported by Vulture, the project will focus on Wonder Woman as a budding hero rather than the already established personality that existed in Kelley's take that starred Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki . "As well crafted and contemporized as it was, it was a big and radical shift for viewers to embrace this new idea -- and that may, to some degree, have had to do with why it didn’t make it," Warner Bros. TV president Peter Roth told THR last year, noting at the time that Wonder Woman's future at another network was to be determined. MTV got a chance to talk to Channing Tatum at the MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet. The whole delay and reshoot ordeal surrounding G.I. Joe: Retaliation just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Now co-star Channing Tatum has chimed in on the mess, and he seems just as confused as the rest of the world. The film was coming out June 29, but it's now been bumped all the way to March 29, 2013. The sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation was supposed to come out this summer on June 29th . But I’ve learned that Paramount is moving the movie nine months to March 29, 2013 , to add 3D. “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,” one of the studio execs just told me. “Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post — and look how well that movie turned out.” Hollywood is shocked that Paramount vacated the primo date, especially because Paramount blew a wad on a Super Bowl commercial and already was starting TV and outdoor ads for GI Joe 2. Paramount has had luck delaying films before: its decision to move Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island gave the director his biggest box office hit ever. And right now, 3D is huge internationally, with Russia and China building new 3D theaters by the week.
