In Pixels , when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. You have to feel for the big, iconic cities of the world. If they’re not being lashed by crummy weather, they’re being targeted by alien invaders and other cinematic catastrophes. With Pixels , giant versions of video-game enemies are attacking locales such as London, Paris and San Francisco. Yes, the likes of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Eiffel Tower and the Houses of Parliament are once more being assaulted, this time by Pac-Man, Centipede and Space Invaders. It’s all in service of Adam Sandler’s new action-comedy, which finds extra-terrestrials misreading video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war.
