 Review  By: Brandon Wolfe The devolution of Adam Sandler as a comedic great has been a long painful trudge for those of us who remember what a bolt from the blue he was in the ‘90s. Between SNL, ‘ Billy Madison ’, ‘ Happy Gilmore ’ and his comedy albums, Sandler offered a uniquely silly, often surreal voice that set him apart from his peers. Many comedians trafficked in juvenilia, but Sandler turned being stupid into something approaching a weirdo art form. Yet before long, Sandler got lazy, content in the knowledge that he could do essentially anything and the public would reward him with an easy $100 million each time out. The manic strangeness of ‘ Billy Madison ’ soon gave way to a stultifying mainstream blandness, the humor growing staler and more lowest-common-denominator with each outing. ‘ Blended ’ very much exemplifies what we now come to expect from an Adam Sandler vehicle. Grown Ups 2 Review By: MattInRC In a Summer of good films, Grown Ups 2 is neither special nor memorable. I've made my disdain fairly clear for Actor Adam Sandler , who's turned in a body of work that hardly ever elevates itself from gross humor. He hit pay dirt last year with Hotel Transylvania , but that didn't come from his studio Happy Madison Productions, nor was it written by him. I had hoped his success in the animated genre would encourage him to produce more family-friendly (and frankly funnier) fare, and to move past the growing number of disappointments and bombs that are littering a once promising career. Grown Ups 2 shows that he's neither learned from his mistakes, nor understands the more lucrative choices placed before him. In 2010, Adam Sandler's ensemble comedy Grown Ups - featuring Sandler himself, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider - earned $271,430,189 worldwide. In 2013, Grown Ups 2 plans to do the same, and here's the trailer to prove it. Here's a brief round-up: Lenny Feder ( Adam Sandler ) moves his family back to the town where he grew up. A reindeer urinates on Sandler's face. Taylor Lautner jocks it up a notch. Echoing the swing rope from the first film, the gang leap, naked, off a cliff into a river, with Spade's head going up James' anus. Andy Samberg and a crew of soaped up cheerleader men-folk lather James' car. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA Review  By: MattInRC  HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is sidesplittingly funny, inventive, just a little gross, and is the best animated feature of 2012 so far.11 2012 has been a rough year for Adam Sandler . Party to one of the worst films of all time in the disgusting/disturbing/ridiculous That's My Boy , it proved that the SNL alumni must leave producing films to more competent people. Another actor with similar troubles is Kevin James , whose fat-man loser comedy persona failed to resonate with fans in the totally forgettable Zookeeper (in which Sandler has a cameo). And in the best example of misery enjoying company, the two joined forces to destroy Grown Ups and The Dilemma. So it goes without saying that the release of HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA   was viewed with a healthy amount of skepticism by critics hoping for greatness but prepared for disaster.
