TV Review: Preacher "The Possibilities"

Series is still preaching to its choir. Review by Brandon Wolfe As a newcomer to the Preacher universe, I very much want to like this series. I like much of the acting, I like the behind-the-scenes talent, I like the visuals and the humor, and the world that it seems to be building seems like it has the potential for great things. Which is why it remains so terribly frustrating how scattershot and unfocused the series is thus far. Three episodes in, I don’t precisely know what to make of Preacher . I’m not even sure I could tell you with any real certainty what it’s about. It feels more and more like a series made by and for existing Preacher fans, with little patience for those of us on the outside who don’t already speak the language. The series keeps offering fragments that feel less like a slow build and more like teases for things with which we are already expected to be intimately familiar. For instance, we get a peek this week of the criminal past once shared by Jesse an

DONALD GLOVER Will Star In Spider-Man: Homecoming

Still, those who hoped that the Community veteran would appear in a Spidey film are getting their wish, if not directly, as Glover has joined Spider-Man: Homecoming . So far we don't know what role Glover will be playing, but we're happy to see him part of the Spider-universe. He joins Holland , who makes his stand-alone debut as Peter Parker following his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Marisa Tomei , who is once again Aunt May, Michael Keaton (as The Vulture, even if it hasn't officially been announced), The First Avenger: Captain America actor Kenneth Choi in a new role as a school headmaster and Michael Barbieri, Tony Revolori and Zendaya , who will all play pals of our friendly neighborhood web-slinger. Not to forget Robert Downey Jr. , who shared scenes with Holland as Tony Stark and brings the zinger-slinger to the Spider-Man films thanks to Marvel and Sony's big crossover deal. Cop Car director Jon Watts is preparing to start shooting, and the

Beverly Hills Cop 4 One Step Closer To Happening

According to Deadline Paramount has set Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct its long awaited fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop series. The Belgian writer-directors are best known for their edgy drama Black, which won the Discovery Award at the Toronto Film Festival last year. The studio, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Eddie Murphy have been working diligently to get the script and elements right for a film that had been once been slated to be released this year. They loved Black, and when they met with the filmmakers, they were charmed to discover how important the original Beverly Hills Cop was to them. Even though this is a major step up from the budget of their last film, this became an opportunity to reframe a venerable franchise with youthful energy. They will direct a script by writers Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec that will bring Murphy’s street smart cop character Axel Foley back to his Detroit origins. It is gritty with the trademark irreverent hum
