BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

John Boyega To Star In Pacific Rim 2

John Boyega has long since proved he knows something about battling odd creatures, be it in Attack The Block or a little film he appeared in last year called Star Wars: The Force Awakens . So he's got the credentials to fight Kaiju in the Pacific Rim sequel, and producer Guillermo del Toro has picked him to play the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost. Yes, though we don't yet know what memorable monicker he will be sporting – Cashier Pentecost, keeping up the supermarket theme? – he'll be the new movie's leading man, under the direction of Steven S. DeKnight, who was selected by del Toro when he opted not to return to the big chair. "I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox," says del Toro. "The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world. ‘The World saving the world’ was our goal and I couldn't think of a better man for the job

Splash Reboot In The Works

You might have read our recent interview with Daryl Hannah , which touched on her experiences making 1984 Tom Hanks comedy Splash . Now Brian Grazer , who produced the original, says he's pressing ahead with a remake. A potential follow-up, be it in sequel form or remake, has been floating around for years, though nothing has risen to the surface. But asked in a recent CNBC interview about who he'd cast if he made Splash today, Grazer demurred, revealing that he's actually working on a new version. The 1984 film was a literal fish-out-of-water comedy, which saw Hannah's mermaid fall for human Hanks in New York. Grazer wouldn't be pressed on real details for the new development, but did say the following: “We’re going to do a version of that, but I can’t tell you the twist." You can see the full interview here. Back in the day, there was an original treatment for the film known as Wet, which focused more on the mermaid's point of view. And Grazer

Fast & Furious 8 Cast Photo

Star and series producer Vin Diesel has marked the occasion with the first photo of the new cast posted to his Instagram feed. It’s not a still from the movie, or even an professionally photographed snap from the publicity department, but it gives us a good idea of what the billion-dollar franchise now looks like in its post-Paul Walker era. For those counting, that’s actually 11 cast members pictured – featuring (from left to right) Jason Statham, Kristofer Hivju, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood and Dwayne Johnson . Most of the cast are returning from earlier entries in the series. Newcomers include Theron as new baddie Cipher; magnificently-bearded Hivju (venturing south of the Wall from Game Of Thrones) as her henchman; plus Eastwood as Kurt Russell’s protegé. F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is calling the shots on the crazy stunts and family barbeques this tim

TV Review: Preacher "See"

Series is compelling but still too focused on its flock. Review by Brandon Wolfe In its second outing, Preacher seems to retain the pilot ’s issue of preaching to the converted, the converted being fans of the comic. In an opening flashback to 1881, we meet a mystery man setting out on horseback into an utterly apocalyptic horizon to procure medicine for a sick child. The man meets a group of upbeat travelers, but his taciturn nature clashes sharply with them. We then see him ride his horse past a tree decorated with hanging, scalped bodies of Indians like a perverted Christmas tree. The man barely seems to notice. This all seems terribly important and meaningful, and I’ve no doubt it immediately struck a chord with the Preacher faithful, but we neophytes in the audience are left scratching our heads. It’s one thing to be a bit mysterious, and to plant some seeds for a future harvest, but Preacher doesn’t seem to feel any powerful need thus far to be inclusive to those of us who
