Horror cheapie has a devil of a time feeling original. Review by Brandon Wolfe It happens every year. Some studio plops some cheapie exorcism/possession thriller into theaters hoping that enough undiscerning Friday night moviegoers will turn up before the film sinks like a stone. These films are virtually interchangeable. A pretty young woman starts acting oddly. Her loved ones grow concerned. Unexplained phenomena occurs. Blood is spilled (but not too much; gotta lock down that PG-13). A priest or a medium is brought in to help. The evil is vanquished…OR IS IT? The Vatican Tapes is this year’s version of that movie and it follows the playbook to the letter. Review by Matt Cummings If you were one of the millions of people who forked over $100 in hopes of watching that 'fight of the century' between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, you were probably disappointed at the men's dance that occurred in its place. It's sad to admit that American professional boxing is perhaps in its darkest hour, ruined by promoters who laugh all the way to their huge payouts, and supported with questionable behavior by boxers that borders on the practiced routines of the WWE. By Brandon Wolfe Given its record-breaking runaway success, Universal is not about to allow another 14 years to pass before heading back to Dinoland, as the studio has carved out a June 22, 2018 release date for the follow-up to Jurassic World . Director Colin Trevorrow will write the script for the next installment, but will not return to the director's chair. However, stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be booking their return engagements. Jurassic World now stands as the third-highest grossing film in history, worldwide. Currently, nothing else is set for that date in June 2018, but that May will bring Avengers: Infinity War Part I , The Lego Movie Sequel and the Han Solo solo film .
