BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Win Tickets To An Advance Screening For #THEOVERNIGHT In San Francisco

Win Tickets To An Advance Screening For THE OVERNIGHT on June 17 at 7:00 PM in San Francisco. Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt at the neighborhood park, they gladly agree to join family pizza night at the home. But as it gets later and the kids go to bed, the family “playdate” becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up. Writer/director Patrick Brice’s second feature is a painfully funny take on thirty^ something sexual frustration and parenthood. Featuring memorable lead performances by Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman , and Judith Godrèche , each actor nimbly balances the script’s sudden emotional turns from surprising honesty to complete embarrassment. Produced by Gettin' Rad and the Duplass Brothers, THE OVERNIGHT tells a complex story of universa

Actor Christopher Lee Dies at 93

Prolific actor experienced late-life resurgence. Story by Matt Cummings Depending on who you talk to, Actor Christopher Lee was either that scary guy from 60/70s horror cinema or that scary guy in the Star Wars prequels and Lord of the Rings . Either way, Lee's death on Sunday of heart failure reminds us of the incredible late-career resurgence which the Son of Dracula experienced, a fact that doesn't happen too often in the grind that is Hollywood. Born Christopher Frank Carandini Lee in Belgravia, Westminster, England on May 27, 1922, Lee was a military brat whose father and mother divorced when he was young. Before he became an actor, Lee had volunteered to fight against the Soviet Union in 1939, later serving the RAF and British intelligence during WWII. That period seems to have been an important turning point for Lee, who later remarked that his willingness to do so many horror films was nothing compared to what he had seen as a spy for the British governm

Quicksilver Returning For X-Men: Apocalypse

Scene stealer to take another run at audiences. By Brandon Wolfe For last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past , the biggest gripe in advance of the film’s release concerned Evan Peters’ Quicksilver . The character’s silver hair, shiny jacket and welder goggles looked goofy in stills, and that dumb Carl’s Jr. commercial didn’t help, either. Plus, the fact that Joss Whedon was also putting the character into Avengers: Age of Ultron with a less risible appearance seemed to instantly render Peters’ interpretation as the lesser Quicksilver straight out of the gate. Now fast-forward a year and the X-Men version of Quicksilver stole the show and had one of the best scenes in any movie last year with his slo-mo “Time in a Bottle” set piece, while the Avengers version died on the table and is already mostly forgotten. So it was a no-brainer for the character to return for next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse , and director Bryan Singer confirmed in a set photo on Instagram today that the zi

Soundtrack Review: 'Chuck' Television Series

A great, quirky representation of the show. Review by Matt Cummings Back in the day before geeks and nerds ruled Planet Earth - okay, just eight to be precise - NBC premiered the spy comedy Chuck , created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The series centered around Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) as an ordinary computer geek, whose loser life is radically altered when he accidentally opens an email that contains The Intersect, a database of information about the CIA and NSA. Somehow, the entire database downloads into his brain, garnering the attention of NSA Major John Casey (Adam Baldwin) and CIA Agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski). With the original file destroyed and Chuck's secret known only to the two agencies, he and his new friends embark upon a series of adventures that reveal much more about Chuck than he ever imagined. The series was fastened by a strong soundtrack by Tim Jones, which has been compiled in anticipation of the series' release on Blu-

Chris Hemsworth Cast as Receptionist in New Ghostbusters

Thor to put the hammer down and pick up the phone. By Brandon Wolfe Paul Feig crossed the streams on Twitter this afternoon with the revelation that none other than Chris Hemsworth will portray the receptionist for the female cast of the new Ghostbusters . Hemsworth will be the counterpart to the role memorably played by Annie Potts in the original film. However, given Hemsworth’s “Sexiest Man Alive” exterior, it’s safe to say that his receptionist won’t merely be a male version of Janine, and will presumably be the centerpiece of a gender-flipped “hired for his looks” comedic scenario, the guy version of the “hot secretary” cliché. Hemsworth has been making a concerted effort lately to expand his repertoire into more comedic directions, between this and his role in that other dusting-off of an ‘80s classic, Vacation . He will be taking messages for Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon when the new Ghostbusters opens next July. Discuss this story with

The #XFiles First Set Photo

Ever since word broke earlier this year that The X-Files will be re-opened for a limited run next year, you’ve been wondering how Mulder and Scully will look in the new six-episode series. Well, given that we know what David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson look like, it’s not hard to guess, but here comes photographic evidence courtesy of the series’ official Twitter account . Yes, it’s not the typically glamorous studio shot or posed set photo we’re used to – this is taken from a monitor on the production. But it’s enough to see that Mulder appears to have let himself go in the years since the second film, while Scully still dresses like she belongs in the FBI. Quite where we’ll find them and what they’ll be up to is another matter, but we do know that Mitch Pileggi is also back and that Joel McHale (who has been posting less-than spoiler-filled tweets of his own from the shoot) will be aboard, playing the anchor of an internet news service who becomes an unlikely ally for Mulde
