Movie Review: #SkinTrade Satisfies The Action Genre's Bloodthirsty Fans

Taking a page out of the Steven Segal movies of the 90's, Skin Trade harbors an incredibly simple vengeance plot loaded with enough macho posturing to satisfy the action genre's bloodthirsty fans. New Jersey detective, Nick Cassidy ( Dolph Lundgren ) heads to Bangkok where he teams up with Thai detective, Tony Vitayakui ( Tony Jaa ) to hunt down Viktor Dragovic ( Ron Perlman ) and destroy his human trafficking network. Nick had mistakenly killed Dragovic's son in a sting operation on the New Jersey docks, and Dragovic responded by attempting to kill Nick and his family. Nick miraculously survived the brutal attack, but his wife and daughter were killed. With nothing but vengeance to live for, Nick and Tony traverse their way through the Bangkok underworld in search of the elusive Dragovic. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Eddie Reed ( Michael Jai White ) is sent in to bring Nick home. But as the crossfire ensues, Nick has to determine who his true allies are. Dolph Lundgr

Movie Review: #ElectricSlide

Electric Slide aims for Bonnie and Clyde but fails miserably short. The rehashed story never quite gets off the ground, with little tension, it's not only tiresome, but uninteresting. Jim Sturgess plays Eddie Dodson, a Melrose Avenue antiques dealer who decided to become a bank robber. Dodson drove to the banks in a black '63 Ford Galaxy LTD. He dressed up like an elegant criminal. He made mix tapes to listen to on his getaways. And in only nine months, Eddie robbed 64 banks - more than anyone has robbed before or since. Taking its aesthetic cues from Eddie Dodson and the unique moment he occupied in L.A.'s counter cultural history, director Tristan Patterson has forgone the style of straight‐ahead biopics to create a New Wave dream of a romantic outlaw seeking self‐reinvention and immortality in paradise. While Dodson is meant to be a charismatic, and sexy, he emulates creepy more efficiently. There is nothing attractive or compelling about his “give it to me

TV Review: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. "One Door Closes"

Wherein Team Coulson won't just let the experts do their job. Review by Brandon Wolfe The conflict between the Real S.H.I.E.L.D. and Coulson’s fake one is one of the better gambits that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has yet attempted, even if the divide separating the show’s intentions and the audience’s (well, my) reception is substantial. The show is insisting that Edward James Olmos’ Gonzales and his agency are the antagonists of this story and that Coulson and his merry band of crybabies are still our white knights, yet from where I’m standing, Gonzales is completely in the right. When Gonzales points out that Coulson has been infused with alien DNA and has been used as a conduit for an alien race, making him an unreliable wild card, it’s hard to dispute any of it. Even Coulson himself doesn’t seem to be able to. But beyond Coulson’s alien-related unpredictability, the proof is in the pudding. We’ve seen him and his team in action and have witnessed first-hand their numerous l

Amazon Originals Review: Bosch

Although a little rushed, the Amazon Original Bosch is a solid, slow-burn cop drama. Review by Matt Cummings Amazon Originals hit it big in 2015 with their comedy Transparent , winning tow Golden Globe awards and solid praise along the way. Seeking to extend their street rep as a legitimate distributor of programming is Bosch , based on the book series by Michael Connelly. And while it's an enjoyable slow burn, the series needs a bit more polish and a few more episodes. LAPD Detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) is no stranger to trouble: a decorated soldier, he's a shoot-first-cop-on-the-edge, with only a broken marriage to show for his personal life. But Bosch bleeds LA, and when the body of a 12 year-old boy is accidentally dug up, he takes a special interest in pursing the truth about his murder. Was it the serial killer Raynard Waits (Jason Gedrick) or the boy's foster child friend Johnny Stokes (Shawn Hatosy)? Together with his partner Jerry Edgar
