As Warner Bros. plunges headlong back into the world of Harry Potter with prequel spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them , the studio recently announced a 2016 release date for the first planned film. Jon M. Chu is directing the film adaptation based on the popular '80s animated show. Fans of '80s pop culture, rejoice. Molly Ringwald has been cast in the adaptation of popular 1980s cartoon Jem and the Holograms. Directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay by Ryan Landels, the film will star Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples as Jem while Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko will play the Holograms, as THR exclusively reported. The film, based on the animated TV series that ran from 1985 to 1988, follows Jerrica Benton and her alter ego, Jem, who fronts the band the Holograms. It’s been great about keeping the excitement up while still throwing enough obstacles in Jack’s path to keep things interesting. It hasn’t completely shaken off some of the more frustrating aspects of ‘24’, but the relentlessness of this first batch of episodes recalls the show at its white-knuckle best. The meat of “2:00 PM - 3:00 PM” concerns what happens after Jack made his way into the U.S. Embassy last week.
