Identity Thief Blu-ray Review. Does The Road Trip Blu-ray Comedy Inspire Us To Do The Same?

Identity Thief  Blu-ray Review By: MattInRC Does the road trip Blu-ray comedy Identity Thief on Blu-ray inspire us to do the same, or punch us in the throat like many of McCarthy's victims? The disappointing Identity Thief arrives onto Blu-ray with more of a thud and in need of a rest stop The Movie - 2.5/5 The new Jason Bateman/Melissa McCarthy comedy Identity Thief is something close to a sandwich that one loses a taste for soon after ordering it. Stacked high with well-intentioned comedic zaniness and surrounded by freshly-baked acting goodness, the film follows the straight-laced Colorado father Sandy ( Jason Bateman , Arrested Development) as he loses - then gains back - his identity from Florida grifter Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids). McCarthy plays Diana, an overweight (big surprise) compulsive liar who's made a living by ruining the credit of others. She steals identities, then spends the victim into prison, all because her family abandoned her at an

First Look At Evangeline Lilly From The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug

When The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on Dec. 13, there will be a fresh face among the residents of Middle-earth: Tauriel, an elf warrior played by Evangeline Lilly of Lost fame. “She’s slightly reckless and totally ruthless and doesn’t hesitate to kill,” says Lilly. She’s also not found anywhere in J.R.R. Tolkien’s original fantasy novel, or in any of Tolkien’s other writings for that matter. Director Peter Jackson and his co-writers on the Hobbit trilogy, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, invented the character to expand the world of the elves of Mirkwood Forest — and to bring some more female energy to the otherwise male-dominated Hobbit narrative. “Tauriel is the head of the Elven Guard,” Lilly explains. “She’s a Sylvan Elf, which means she’s of a much lower order than the elves we all became acquainted with in The Lord of the Rings. She doesn’t hold the same kind of status that Arwen or Galadriel or Elrond or Legolas do — she’s much more lowly. She sort of goes

Keira Knightley To Join The Imitation Game

After sitting in development for a few years, the chances of Graham Moore’s script The Imitation Game seeing the projector's light got a healthy boost this year with the hiring of director Morten Tyldum and Sherlock star/vowel thief Benedict Cumberbatch . It appears the film now has a female lead, as Keira Knightley is in talks to co-star. Moore’s script is based on the life of Alan Turing, the maths whizz who helped crack the German Enigma code during World War II and who, despite his heroism and genius, was persecuted for his homosexuality in the 1950s. Variety offers no clue as to what exact role Knightley will be playing even if she does lock in a contract, but the casting of two high-profile actors and the much-praised Headhunters filmmaker certainly gives us cause for hope that the film will finally get made. With luck, it’ll be shooting this year around Cumberbatch and Knightley’s busy schedules. Knightley (who previously shared a cast list with Cumberbundle in Atone

The Purge Review. It Could Have Been So Much More

The Purge review By: MattInRC Spoiler Alert! The Purge has all the best intentions, but its execution is terribly flawed. The era of ultra-violence is upon us: stories about baddies dying terrific deaths, or heroes leaping from cars to defy the rules of gravity, are celebrated and marketed by Hollywood as part of The Summer Movie Season. A society bent on enjoying such entertainment over more meaningful (and potentially just as thrilling) stories seems to be all Hollywood can produce now, such as the well-intentioned but poorly-executed thriller The Purge . It's the kind of film that could have been so much more but achieves far less. It's the year 2022, and crime/general suffering is at an astonishing 1% No, we haven't founded The United Federation of Planets, or come up with a new food and money supply to bring the world happiness. What society has achieved is far more morbid: during one 12-hour period each year, Americans are allowed to engage in The

First Image Of Theo James As "Four" From Divergent

Attention all you Four fans: here’s an exclusive reveal of Theo James as Tobias “ Four ” Eaton, the mysterious–and rather dreamy–Dauntless leader that takes a special interest in Beatrice Prior ( Shailene Woodley ). For those of you who haven’t read the Veronica Roth books, Divergent takes place in a dystopian future where all of society is divided into five factions: Amity (peaceful), Abnegation (selfless); Candor (honest, Erudite (intelligent); a nd Dauntless (brave). Our heroine, sixteen-year-old Tris, chooses the Dauntless faction. EW caught up with Theo James while he was on a break from shooting Divergent in Chicago where the production will continue until mid-July. ”Is this the picture where I have a t-shirt on and no pants? I was really hoping they’d use that one,” James jokes, before explaining that this picture (note: he is wearing pants) captures a moment from early in the film when Four is showing the Dauntless initiates around their new headquarters. “I’ve introdu
