The once-a-year announcement continues to be entirely unsurprising, but here it is anyway... Following the success of this year's Paranormal Activity 4 , Halloween 2013 will see Paranormal Activity 5 making sudden loud noises in your local multiplex. There are no details yet, other than the release date of October 25, so it's unclear if the directors of the last two installments, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (who also made the excellent Catfish) will be returning for a third time. Their two Paranormals introduced some new story threads that are still dangling, however, so it may be that they want to stay for at least one more stint to tie those up. Paranormals 2 and 3 were both prequels, but 4 finally got into the what-happened-next territory of Katie and Hunter's lives after their disappearance. Wow… It hardly seems possible that it’s nearly been a year since the last Jack The Giant Slayer trailer. Back then, it was called Jack The Giant Killer and set to arrive in June of this year. For this latest trailer, we get more details on the storyline, including how young farmhand Jack ( Nicholas Hoult ) meets the brave princess Isabelle ( Eleanor Tomlinson ) and together they get mixed up in a big giant adventure(literally, since it involves giants). The real villain here is – spoiler alert from the trailer – Stanley Tucci’s Lord Roderick, who is manipulating things from behind the scenes and manufactures Isabelle’s abduction so as to prompt a rescue mission by Jack and knight Elmont ( Ewan McGregor ), which in turn sparks an invasion of the human world by the big fellas. Which signals, of course, that this is strictly a Rumour Alert. But Deadline’s sources have heard that franchise veteran Lawrence Kasdan and Sherlock Holmes writer Simon Kinberg are in contention to script the second and third films in the planned new Star Wars trilogy. Naturally, Disney isn’t commenting on the speculation, but if it does turn out to be true, it could be very good news. That's particularly so in Kasdan’s case, since this is the man who co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi - not to mention his work on Raiders Of The Lost Ark . Having Kasdan back as a Star Wars writer would surely lead to something special. As for Kinberg , he has proven big film chops and knows how to make set pieces work.
