Warner Bros. has tapped "Bridget Jones's Diary" scribe Andrew Davies to write " Beauty and the Beast ," a new take on the classic tale that Guillermo del Toro will not only produce, but also direct. WB's "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson is in final negotiations to topline the period pic. DiNovi Pictures' Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce with del Toro, who will write a treatment that Davies will then work off of. Del Toro, who's currently filming "Pacific Rim" for WB and Legendary Pictures, is credited as a co-writer on both of WB's upcoming "Hobbit" movies. This weekend at the New York Toy Fair, Mattel has finally announced the much anticipated release of the Hoverboard , a futuristic hovering skateboard that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) used in the Back to the Future sequels. Back to the Future Hover Board: Finally ! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. While there, we got the latest on Beetlejuice 2 , the follow-up film the writer is involved with at Warner Bros and that Tim Burton will shepherd. Shock asked him for the latest on the project and to see how close the sequel was to becoming a reality. "It's a reality in the sense that I met with Michael Keaton last week," Grahame-Smith told us. "We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff. It's a priority for Warner Bros. It's a priority for Tim. Right now, I am writing an animated movie for Tim based on an idea of mine. Then I adapt Unholy Night [based on the upcoming book]. The third I am hoping is Beetlejuice in terms of writing schedule."
