BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Blues Brothers Headed To The Small Screen

Variety reports that Aykroyd , along with John Belushi ’s ex-wife Judy, have owned the TV rights to the characters of Jake and Elwood Blues for years, and that they’re now shopping the prospect of a Blues Brothers series around the US networks. The package so far includes a pilot script written by Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live scribe Anne Beatts, Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty. The plot will see the musically inclined pair freshly out of jail, with Elwood on the hunt for his real father. While the intention is to find new actors to play the brothers, Aykroyd will be involved as the voice of their parole officer. After debuting on SNL in 1978, the Blues Brothers sketches became one of the earliest breakouts from the show. Elwood (Aykroyd) and Jake (John Belushi) formed a touring band and starred in 1980’s classic John Landis comedy built around them. Despite the fact that Belushi died in 1982, Aykroyd has never quite let the idea of the duo die with him. On the positive si

Lee is set to direct with Ridley on board to write and serve as showrunner. It will be set in Newark, N.J., which is often dubbed "Brick City." Last season, he added a cameo on Entourage to his resume. For his part, Ellin has a comedy vehicle with Ed Burns set up at HBO and will wrap up Entour

DC Comics' Deadman Coming To The CW Network

For years it was being developed by Guillermo Del Toro and Don Murphy for the big screen, but now DC Comics' Deadman is heading to TV, with the CW network grooming the supernatural superhero as a potential replacement for the just-ended Smallville. Arnold Drake and Carmine Infanto created the comics series in 1967. It's centred on Boston Brand , a former trapeze artist murdered mid-act who, as a ghost, is given the power to possess people for crime-fighting purposes by a made-up Hindu goddess called Rama Kushna. He's rarely had his own series, but has regularly turned up in various DC comics, including Alan Moore's Swamp Thing and Neil Gaiman's The Books of Magic. The Gaiman connection isn't insignificant: Supernatural showrunner Eric Kripke describes that programme as a cross between Sandman and Gaiman's novel American Gods (itself in development at HBO), and Sandman was the last DC TV project Kripke was attached to.
