Yesterday during Nascar Daytona 500 a new Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer was unleashed. Pretty much the same one we have seen before with a few new scenes. The film third Transformers film stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk and John Turturro. Unknown Leads The Box Office On This Holiday Weekend

In another win for Liam Neeson and his adult fans, Warner Bros. and Dark Castle Entertainment's action-thriller Unknown scored a surprise victory in besting Alex Pettyfer teen sci-fi adventure I Am Number Four at the President's Day box office. But overall, the downturn at the domestic box office continued, with revenues off 30% from President's Day weekend last year (which fell a week earlier). Unknown opened to an estimated $21.8 million from 3,043 theaters through Sunday, according to Rentrak. It's on target to gross around $26 million for the four-day holiday weekend. A resounding 89% of the audience was over the age of 25 -- and 54% over the age of 50. Neeson scored a similar victory with Taken, distributed by Fox. Nathan Fillion & Firefly Return To TV

Browncoats rejoice: Firefly is returning to basic cable — and Nathan Fillion has something to say about it. The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the cult-hit and will air the series in its short-lived entirety, plus some new extras. Science Channel will wrap each episode with interstitial segments starring renowned physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who will discuss the theoretical science behind the show’s sci-fi concepts. According to Firefly studio 20th Century Fox, this will mark the first time Firefly has aired on a fully distributed basic cable channel since 2008, when it ran on USA Network. In honor of this occasion, star Nathan Fillion took a brief break from shooting ABC’s Castle today to jump on the phone and answer five Firefly questions — including whether he’d ever reprise the role of Captain Mal again. Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Comes To Life

Guillermo del Toro , The Jim Henson Company and Pathe are ready to go on Pinocchio , a 3D stop motion animated adaptation of the Carlo Collodi fairy tale that will be edgier than the 1940 animated Disney classic. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson , and production will begin later this year. Grimly illustrated a 2002 book of Collodi’s tale that formed the basis for a project that is years in the making. The storyline was hatched by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins, and the script was written by the latter, who has collaborated with del Toro on scripts for Mimic , the remake Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark , and del Toro’s next directing project At the Mountains of Madness. Del Toro will produce with Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Jason Lust, and Allison Abbate. Precious Director Lee Daniels Wants Sofia Vergara, Bradley Cooper for Thriller The Paperboy It’s been a year since Lee Daniels devastated us with Precious, but since then we’ve gotten precious little clarity about what he’d be doing next. (Is it The Butler, Selma, Anna in the Tropics? Or maybe that Fellini adaptation?) But now our spies tell us that Daniels appears to be settling on his next project, rewriting an adaptation of Pete Dexter 1995 novel The Paperboy that’s fast coming together at Relativity Media. Michelle Pfeiffer To Join Dark Shadows

Michelle Pfeiffer is in negotiations to reteam with Tim Burton for Dark Shadows , Warner Bros’ big-screen take on the 1960s gothic vampire TV soap opera starring Johnny Depp . The movie has an April start and has been casting up, with Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green and Bella Heathcote already on board. Depp will portray Barnabas Collins, a self-loathing vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love. Pfeiffer would play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the reclusive matriarch of the Collins family which runs the Maine town. The character has not left the mansion since the disappearance of her husband a decade earlier. Pfeiffer is finding herself very much in demand this new year. The actress is juggling a role in New Line’s all-star New Year’s Eve and shooting Welcome to People, the directorial debut of scribe Alex Kurtzman. Latinoreview reported last week that Robin McLeavy got the lead role as Mary Todd in the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter which is an adaptation of Seth Graham-Smith's novel with the same name. Today we learned that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has actually been cast as Mary Todd. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Mary Todd in 20th Century Fox’s period vampire adventure Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. She’ll star opposite Benjamin Walker, who plays Abraham Lincoln. Timur Bekmambetov is directing Vampire Hunter, based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith. It’s Bekmambetov’s first movie since the 2008 hit Wanted, and tells the story of how Lincoln fought vampires during the Civil War. Dominic Cooper and Anthony Mackie also star in Vampire Hunter.
