Underworld 4 Gets A Release Date And Will Be Shot In 3D. What A Surprise Sony's Screen Gems is moving ahead with a fourth film in the "Underworld" franchise and is targeting a January 2012 release. The movie will be shot in 3-D. We've received no word yet if Underworld: Rise of the Lycans stars Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra , or former franchise stars Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman will return for the next film.  We are told Seline (Beckinsale) will "pass the torch" to one of her kindred (yes, she has not one, but two daughters at this point). Back in February, we reported that the studio was pleased with the performance of the prequel that opened on January 23. The film was made for just $35 million and earned $91.1 million worldwide, not counting DVD and Blu-ray sales. Starring Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, Sam Huntington, Anita Briem and Taye Diggs , The film is being produced by independent film company Platinum Films and directed by Kevin Monroe the man who directed TMNT and I am not sure I would advertise that on the trailer but they do. Oliver Platt Joins The Cast Of X-Men: First Class Add Oliver Platt to the cast of X-Men: First Class , the Matthew Vaughn -directed spinoff that 20th Century Fox puts into production next month in London. I'm told that Platt will play a role called The Man in Black , who is not a mutant. Kristen Bell To Put On Her Dancing Shoes Kristen Bell is putting on her ballet slippers for " Dance of the Mirlitons ," giving the indie black comedy a second shot at the big screen. With Bell on board, Evan Greenberg, who wrote the script and is directing, and producers Daniel Dubiecki and Joel Michaely are now focusing on their a nationwide casting search for a young actress to play a precocious 10- to 12-year old. "We're looking to discover an unknown," said Greenberg, adding he hopes to go down the route of movies such as "Billy Elliot" and "Little Miss Sunshine," both of which uncovered talented youngsters ("Elliot" was the screen debut of 13-year-old Jamie Bell, while "Sunshine" made a movie star of 10-year-old Abigail Breslin, who had only worked in TV).
