Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers

Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers Looks like Warner Bros. is going to give the go ahead on the long awaited Akira film. After the job that the Hughes Brothers did on The Book Of Eli looks like Warner Bros. has found its team for this upcoming film. They are going to be making two films due to the length on the six-volume manga that the film will be based on. The script will come from Iron Man scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. (Akira is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's company, Appian Way, along with Andrew Lazar, who’s also currently producing an adaptation of DC Comics’ Jonah Hex for Warners.) Even if you had read all of Katsuhiro Otomo’s epic 1982 manga and/or seen his own 1988 anime adaptation, summarizing the plot to Akira would still prove a bit of a challenge. As near as we can figure, Akira is about the leader of a biker gang who tries to save his kidnapped pal from a powerful supernatural experiment. (It might also be a psycho-philosophical explorat

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot Sure you are tried of hearing the same old news, another reboot. Well sorry to tell you they are going to reboot the classic John Carpenter film Escape From New York. New Line Cinema is quickly moving forward thanks to a rewrite from Allan Loeb, the man who rescued the Wall Street sequel from development limbo over at Fox. A big reason for the fast track was creative: Loeb nailed the humor in Plissken without slipping into camp, and he changed Snake’s rescue-mission target from a president to a female senator, thereby upping the banter quotient. But just as big a factor was economic: They found a much cheaper way to turn Manhattan into a giant prison. And more importantly, good ol' Snake remains largely the same. Legally, he has to be. We learned that in order to land the rights, New Line had to sign a contract with John Carpenter stipulating, among other things, that Plissken "must be called 'Snake'";

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics Looks like Stan Lee is finally going to star in his own comic series called "Super Seven" which will be brought to us by Andy Heyward's recently launched A Squared Entertainment and Archie Comics. Lee, the Marvel legend and chairman and founder of POW!, is creating "Seven," about seven aliens who find themselves stranded on Earth after their spaceship crashes and are befriended by Lee himself. Taking them under his care, Lee becomes their leader and enables them to resume their lives as superheroes. "Although I've briefly appeared in other comics, 'Super Seven' is the first time that I'll actually be a continuing character in a far-out, original superhero series," Lee said. "Seven" does not fall under the agreement between POW! and Disney, which this year acquired a 10% stake in Lee's company for $2.5 million. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise Looks like Warner Bros. is trying to reboot the Superman franchise again, but the really big news is that they are enlisting the help of The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. ... Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: "It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns." Please Leave A Comment- Source- deadline
