Wesley Snipes Appeals Tax Convictions

Wesley Snipes Appeals Tax Convictions Wesley Snipes' attorneys asked a federal appeals court Friday to review an "unreasonable" three-year prison sentence for the film star, who was convicted a year ago on federal tax charges. Attorneys for the star of the "Blade" trilogy and other films also argued the actor should have been granted a hearing to decide whether his trial should have been in New York instead of Florida. Prosecutors countered that Snipes, 47, had plenty of time to appeal to move the case to New York in a timely manner before he was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file his income tax returns. Besides, they contended, housing records showed he lived in Florida as well as New York. The three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta issued no immediate decision. Snipes was sentenced in April 2008 in what was considered a key victory for prosecutors who aggressively pursued the maximum penalty to dete

50 Cent has settled a lawsuit With Taco Bell

‘We messed with the bull and got the horns.’”50 Cent has settled a lawsuit With Taco Bell Another one Lil Jerry. Grammatically-challenged rapper 50 Cent has settled a lawsuit with gastronomically-challenged Taco Bell over use of his name in a guerrilla marketing campaign. Curtis Jackson (50's real name) sued Taco Bell for $4 million after the chain conducted a nationwide “Why Pay More” ad campaign with a mock letter addressed to him. In the letter, Taco Bell Corp. President Greg Creed asked the rapper to change his name for one day to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent — the cost of its menu items. In return for the name change, the company said it would make a $10,000 donation to a charity of the rapper's choice. Some people thought the idea was stupid fun — see this YouTube video — but not 50 Cent. Represented by Peter Raymond of Reed Smith, the rapper alleged that Taco Bell infringed his trademark, violated his civil rights, falsely implied that he endorses Taco Bell, and unjustly

Chris Weitz To Direct "The Gardener"

Chris Weitz To Direct "The Gardener" Sorry Twilight Fans Chris Weitz, riding high on the mammoth success of New Moon, certainly can't be accused of resting on his laurels. No sooner had the printer ink dried on his record-breaking box-office take for the Twilight sequel than he was sat straight back down again in the deal-making chair at the films' studio, Summit Entertainment, where he was signing on the dotted line for his next project, "The Gardener". And sorry to disappoint you Twi-hards, but there's nary a mopey supernatural teen in sight. This will mark a considerable change of pace from Weitz's last two films (before New Moon, he was put through the ringer on visual effects Oscar-winning The Golden Compass), involving as it does... well, a gardener. A Mexican gardener, to be specific, who according to Variety, lives in Los Angeles and takes measures to protect his son. At this point we don't even know if this is a thriller, drama, comedy o

"Real Steel" To Star Hugh Jackman

"Real Steel" To Star Hugh Jackman Story centers on a fighter who has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots. Jackman will play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter who finds a discarded robot that always seems to win. He also discovers he has a 11-year-old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top. Although grounded in the father-son relationship, Levy describes the film as a "rousing sports movie" with Jackman's character "a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he's good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace." The DreamWorks principals have greenlit the "Rocky"-esque robot tale "Real Steel," to star Hugh Jackman, as their first pic since raising $650 million from both J.P. Morgan Securities and Reliance Big Pictures and an additional $175 million from Disney, which will distrib DreamWorks titles. Based on a short story by Richard Matheson, "Real Steel

Family Guy-Something Something Dark Side Trailer

Family Guy-Something Something Dark Side Trailer The trailer is great remake that follows the theme of the original trailer from The Empire Strikes Back. The saga continues as Luke (Chris), Leia (Lois), Han Solo (Peter) and Chewbacca (Brian) have evaded the dreaded Imperial Starfleet led by the cunning, conniving and curiously short evil lord Darth Vader (Stewie), setting up a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. With the rebellion in trouble, young Skywalker must take the advice of his late, and rather lascivious, mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert) and learn the ways of the “farce” under Jedi Master Yoda (Carl) to save the galaxy once and for all. The movie will be released on iTunes, DVD and Blu-ray on December 22nd 2009. Related News- Family Guy' 'Empire Strikes Back' Trailer 2 Please Leave A Comment-
