A first look at Thor: The Dark World has arrived online this morning, and it's looking like things will indeed be bigger, badder and a fair bit darker for the sequel to 2011's Norse blockbuster. This time, Chris Hemsworth's Thor is back on Earth to defend us all against the deadly forces of Malkeith (Christopher Eccleston), leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. Well, at the very least he's here to pick up Natalie Portman and get her out of harm's way, which we suppose is close enough. And it looks from this like he's going to need help from his disgraced brother Loki ( Tom Hiddleston ). Hooray! Er. We mean, boo hiss. Let's hope he gets hold of his horned helmet and/or some hair conditioner soon.  The whole thing is directed by Game Of Thrones' Alan Taylor - which perhaps explains all those warm looking cloaks (after all, winter is coming) - and also stars Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Jaime Ale

Just before Hollywood shuts down for the holidays, Marvel Studios has narrowed its shortlist of actors to star in James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy," with Zachary Levi and Jim Sturgess still in contention to play team leader Peter Quill . Better known as Star-Lord , Quill is the son of a human mother and alien father. A charming troublemaker who serves as an interplanetary policeman, Quill leads a rag-tag group of superheroes ( Drax the Destroyer, a raccoon named Rocket and a sword-wielding woman named Gamora ) in an effort to protect the solar system from an evil alien race. The character isn't as well known as other Marvel superheroes such as Iron Man, Captain America or Thor , but Quill is still a plum role for thesps looking to boost their international profile. Marvel reportedly made test deals with five potential leading men several weeks ago, though "Cloud Atlas" star Sturgess is the only one from that list to remain in contention. Lev

We've been waiting for ages to finally get a glimpse of Seth Green's upcoming Star Wars cartoon comedy show. Green and his crew just unveiled the first footage at Star Wars Celebration VI , and we've got four clips for you to see right here! Titled Star Wars: Detours , the series will be set between Episodes III and IV, and will feature a large cast of well-known characters as well as new characters. As Green promised, it's CG-animated, and it's got a very exaggerated style (check out Leia's GIGANTIC hair buns). The tone for much of it seems similar to the spoofs Green and company pulled off on Robot Chicken, though not as raunchy. Among the gags: the Emperor and Darth Vader telling everyone the Death Star's actually a mall while it's still under construction, Han and Chewie coming off like an old married couple and Leia acting like a desperate-for-attention celebutante. Team Marvel, which is still in the midst of making Thor sequel The Dark World , has snagged former Mr. Eko on Lost , Simon Adebisi on Oz and Nykwana Wombosi in The Bourne Identity, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to play not one but – count ‘em – two roles in the movie. The actor, who has also appeared in the likes of G.I. Joe, Faster, The Thing and Unstoppable, is on board to initially play Algrim the Strong , the toughest of the Dark Elves ruled by Malekith ( Christopher Eccleston ) who fight Thor and his family. But when Malekith betrays him, Algrim is injured in battle, only to be healed and turned into Kurse, a being who is described as twice as strong as Asdgard’s finest. How much of the comic lore surrounding him will translate to the screen has yet to be seen, but from the sounds of his dual role, they may be staying true to his tale. British actor Christopher Eccleston , who played Doctor Who during the 2005 season of the BBC sci-fi show, is in final negotiations to play the villain in Thor 2 , Marvel Studios’ sequel to its 2011 hit. Alan Taylor is directing the picture, which is officially titled Thor: The Dark World , and brings back most of the first movie’s cast, including Chris Hemsworth , who plays Thor. Could Zachary Levi Join Thor 2?- Plot details are being kept in the farthest reaches of Valhalla, but Ellleston will play the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim . Marvel Studios is targeting Zachary Levi to join the cast of Thor 2 . He would replace Josh Dallas in the film. Dallas played Fandral, one of the Warriors Three in Thor, but is bowing out of the sequel to the 2011 hit movie due to his commitments to the ABC show Once Upon a Time . Thor 2 Villains. 8 Guess Who It Will Be- Levi’s involvement may blessed by the gods, however. He was in talks to originally play the role in 2010 but had to bow out when his cult NBC show Chuck got a last-minute reprieve from cancellation and an episode extension. Levi’s talks are in at an early stage -- negotiations have not yet begun, according to sources -- but an offer is imminent. Thor 2 is gearing up fast for a July start. Levi joins an ensemble cast in the Sony Produced Peter Tolan project. Aurora is excited he will be starring in another show. No more Chuck reruns. Mere weeks after his long running NBC show CHUCK wrapped, the actor has nabbed a starring role in Fox's Let It Go . The half-hour single camera comedy project, which hails from Sony Pictures TV, centers on a married couple: the husband ( Levi ), his best friend and her sister as they try to navigate, negotiate and sometimes manipulate society’s unspoken rules. The script is being penned by DJ Nash, with Rescue Me's Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer serving as executive producers. Yvonne Strahovski , who stars opposite Zachary Levi in Chuck , is joining My Mother’s Curse , Paramount’s road movie starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand . Anne Fletcher ( The Proposal ) is directing the project with a script by Dan Fogelman ( Cars ), which he wrote based on his own experience traveling with his mother. The dramedy follows an inventor ( Rogen ) who invites his mother ( Streisand ) on a cross-country trip as he tries to sell his new product while also reuniting her with a lost love. Strahovski will play Rogen’s high school sweetheart whom he once proposed to. Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn are producing along with Evan Goldberg. Strahovski will be back on Chuck for its just announced fifth and final season. Perennial bubble show Chuck has apparently avoided cancellation once again. While NBC sources are not confirming that the spy-fi series will get a fifth season, several sources are reporting that a deal is being hammered out with Warner Bros. and is imminent. Though the ratings have been at their lowest this spring, Warner Bros. would love to make a deal, because five seasons of Chuck means syndication. As for NBC, well, scripted drama has not been the network's friend. That said, don't be surprised if we get a shorter 13-episode final season. So, while it looks like fans won't have to eat mountains of Subway sandwiches to save Chuck as they did to insure a third season of the show, there are no such hopeful murmurings for The Event, which has even lower ratings.  NBC Orders Full Season Of Chuck NBC today announced is has ordered full-season picks for " Chuck ": NBC has given full-season pickups to  the returning action-comedy " Chuck " for 2010-11. The announcement was made by Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios. It will be the 50th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, planned for release on November 24, 2010. NBC's Renews "Chuck" For Next Season This is great news for all of us over at sandwichjohnfilms. Warner Bros. has picked up one of our favorite television shows Chuck for next season. Though modestly rated, " Chuck " has been NBC's highlight for their Monday night programming. The show expected to receive 13-episode orders. We can hope for more.  PLEASE!
