THR is reporting The Justice League has found its Commissioner Gordon. Oscar winner J.K. Simmons has been cast as the Gotham City police commissioner. Justice League, which will be directed by Zack Snyder, sees heroes Batman ( Ben Affleck ), Superman ( Henry Cavill ), Wonder Woman ( Gal Gadot ), Aquaman ( Jason Momoa ), The Flash ( Ezra Miller ) and Cyborg ( Ray Fisher ) teaming up to combat a threat beyond each member's capabilities. Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay for Justice League, which will be released in two parts by Warner Bros. It's produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder. Here’s a turn up for the books. Jesse Eisenberg won’t be portraying the Lex Luthor we all know and love in next year’s ‘ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ’. In fact, Eisenberg will playing Alexander Joseph Luthor Jr, son of Lex Luthor Snr , who has taken over his father’s company and turned it into a tech giant. The unexpected news comes from a fictionalised profile of the character on Fortune , which says that Lex Luthor Snr was “indomitable”, “vicious” and more than a little curious about “strange meteorite crystals”. “Dad named the company after himself ten years before I made my unexpected entrance into his life. But investors seemed to respond to the idea of an adoring father building a legacy for his precious son. He used that to his advantage. It was a good shtick and, whatever else he was, he was a good businessman,” says Eisenberg’s character. Variety is reporting HBO is in early talks with Zack Snyder to develop a “ Watchmen ” television series, based on the superhero comic book series from DC Comics, Variety has confirmed with the network. Snyder directed the 2009 film adaptation of “Watchmen.” “Preliminary discussions regarding ‘Watchmen’ have occurred but we have no additional information and no deals are in place,” HBO said in a statement Thursday. Warner Bros., which owns DC Entertainment, declined to comment, though insiders confirm the studio would be involved in the potential project. Other than Snyder meeting with the premium cabler to discuss adapting the DC property for TV, any storyline details are being kept under wraps, and no writer or other auspices have been attached. Patty Jenkins is directing the comic book movie for Warner Bros., which will release the film in 2017. Chris Pine has closed a deal to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in “ Wonder Woman ,” TheWrap has learned. Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options, according to insiders. A representative for Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
