An absurdist war story for our times, writer-director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) recreates a U.S. General’s roller-coaster rise and fall as part reality, part savage parody – raising the specter of just where the line between them lies today. His is an exploration of a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly. At the story’s core is Brad Pitt’s sly take on a successful, charismatic four-star general who leapt in like a rock star to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist’s no-holds-barred exposé. The Netflix original film is inspired by the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan by the late journalist Michael Hastings. Joining Pitt in War Machine is a highly decorated cast including Tilda Swinton, Sir Ben Kingsley, Anthony Michael Hall, Topher Grace, Will Poulter, Lakeith Stanfield, Emory Cohen, John Magaro, RJ Cyler, Alan Ruck, Scoot McNairy and Meg Tilly. THR is reporting John Krasinski , who established his leading-man film cred starring in Michael Bay’s 13 Hours, has nabbed a key role in Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit riots drama. Bigelow is directing the movie that currently is in production in the Boston area, and has actors John Boyega, Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Algee Smith, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Jason Mitchell, Kaitlyn Dever and Hannah Murray as characters on both sides of the racial divide and both sides of the police and civilian line. Details and character information are being kept under lock and key, but the script by Mark Boal is a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the devastating riots that took place in Detroit over five summer days in 1967. Bigelow is producing with Boal, Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman, and Colin Wilson, with Greg Shapiro executive producing. Annapurna is financing.

We're The Millers star to do a different kind of clowning around. By Brandon Wolfe The big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s It has found its Pennywise. The demonic clown will be portrayed by Will Poulter, who is perhaps best known from We’re The Millers . Poulter seems like a strange choice for the role, but a quick glance at his somewhat sinisterly structured face may be the key to understanding the decision. There’s something going on with the eyebrow/forehead region there that’s unsettling. It , which will be directed by True Detective ’s Cary Fukunaga and be split between two films, is the story of a group of children who confront a child-killing entity who often takes the form of a clown, only to have it return to plague them as adults.
